Male doctor and your wife

Just wondering if it bothers you to have your wife seen by a male obgyn doctor, and if it does not bother you, are you familiar with what kind of examination they do, or have you ever gone with her and seen it?

My wife is seen by Dr. Hamilton at Etown physicians for women... I have gone with her for every appointment during her pregnancies.. He has never done or said anything out of way or even the least bit unprofessional, so it doesnt bother me at all...according to my wife she prefers him over his female associates because he is more "gentle".. Lol

we will only see female doctors for this, cant see letting a man see and feel what i see

i dont care if they are, that is not the issue, the issue is a mans face being inches away from someones wife naked privates, and runnning his fingers into her privates, touching her breasts this exam is very explicit, if you want that then go for it,and it is not about jealousy, and i am not a control freak, it looks bad, feels bad, sounds bad, guess it must be bad.

I can assure you that you are one DUMB DUMB person. Yes, the exams are necessary to protect the status of our health. You DO NOT even understand that women have many health issues which come up which need to be monitored. Pity the poor wife that has someone with your level of thinking as her husband. It doesn't matter what you think. Your wife needs to go to an OBGYN that they feel comfortable with. If they feel more comfortable with a female so be it.

I can't imagine having my husband being involved in my choice of my OBGYN. I totally agree with your response. It is the thinking of this husband (?) which shows NO understanding or purpose of the visit. For him to be so bent out of shape about the procedures of the exam is what indicates such immaturity.

I have had many routine check-ups and two pregnancies. I would not have wanted to embarrass myself NOR my doctor by parading my husband in there to watch the exam. The words are dignity and professionalism. The end.

I have only been seen by Women. I am not comfortable with a man that is not my husband examining me. My husband is also not comfortable with a male doctor it is akward enough for him to see the women do the examination I would hate him to see a male doctor Doing the same things! I don't think it's controlling at all for a husband to be uncomfortable with it!!

I can't believe this is even an issue for people. I guess it all depends on who you are but my husband is much more concerned with the type of care I am getting rather than the sex of my doc. In fact, we've never even had this conversation. It's a non-issue for us but then again, we are secure in our relationship and in ourselves, many people are not. I'm comfortable with either and go by the reputation of the physician versus their gender. I think it's completely controlling for a man to be bothered by this. If you really cared about your wife or girlfriend, you would want her to receive the absolute best medical treatment regardless of whether or not the OB/gynecologist is male or female. However, it is MOST important that the WOMAN is comfortable with her healthcare provider. We all have preferences and clearly, some women prefer a female doc, others prefer male. It should be 100% up to her, the patient, to make decisions regarding her health. The men who would rather complain about another man seeing the "goodies" need to realize that this is their job, they have seen it all both good and bad. The doctors are there to save lives, treat infections/illnesses, bring children into the world, and keep the woman you love healthy. There are so many insecure men (women too) who do not have their priorities straight.

This has to be the stupidest thread I have ever seen! My husband could care less if my doctor is a man. He cares that I am getting the best treatment & that I am comfortable with who I am seeing. I'm sure to most of them, all the private areas start to look alike after a while. They are not there for a thrill. Every doctor whether they are a man or a woman will always have a nurse right there to watch what they are doing anyway. I have never taken my husband with me for just a regular Pap test, but he has went with me for my preganancy visits. I don't see how anyone could say that its not right to bring your husband to your doctor visit.

I'm a married woman, when I got to the OB/GYN, I would rather be seen by a male doctor. They are more gentle than a woman doctor. Women are rough when they do the examination. I've had different female OB/GYN and none of them were easier than the male OB/GYN's I've had. Honestly this is stupid. You need to grow up. They are taking care of your wife. Someone needs to quit being so damn jealous.

my wife had two kids the last two year's I went to every visit with her because she wanted me to she had both male and female ob/gyn's they where both professional it does not matter there sex as long as they take good care of woman and child grow up be happy she's expecting you have a lot more to worrie about than that when the child get's here

my gosh dude, do you realize how many rearends these men see a day??? you think their actually going to look at your wifes any differntly than they do the other ten thousand they see a month??? NO thats their job, they probably like look at those all day about like you would like looking at a peter all day. Its not a big deal, like i said they see thousands a month and not many are anything different to look at, you see one you seen them all, same with male genitalia. So relax she's just one rear end in a sea of thousands.
