Great idea! So tell me about the Antelope County Sheriff and the Federal Court! Seems like there is a lot of corruption in that part of the state.

Someone that had just been out scooping for some of the older people called and when he was talking to me he said that he thought that we had right around eight inches. He said it is very light andif the wind blows we will be in trouble.
It is snowing lightly again tonight off and on. One never knows what the next 15 minutes might bring.
You really want snow? I would give you a few inches around here.

We just got a trace of snow. Really wish we had more. No snow days for the kids here. Better get on the road. Heading west to Colorado. Have a good day. Anything going on with Hamilton?

Antoine, haven't heard from you for a while. Hope you aren't sick or anything. Just recovering from the East coast trip? Know you are a busy person but do you have any good recipes for the Super Bowl? Chili sounds good......

Hello Cassandra, it's been busy here at work actually. The commodities markets are really hopping. I am currently planning an Asian trip to shore up some loose ends on some recent business. I will check the family recipes and get back with you on the chili.

Only had to go to Burlington, Co. so I'm back in South Nebraska today. The weather wasn't too bad if you were careful. Marlene, since I am coming up around the Antelope Co. area in a few weeks, what is the best place for coffee, pie, cinnamon rolls, etc. I love the "mom and pop" cafes and would really like to find a neat one to try out. Also, Antoine, if you have any good cinnamon roll recipes, I would appreciate it. Mine always turn out like bricks, they look good but are really heavy. guess I could build a house with them. ha.Hope everyone is getting a little warm weather today.

Here's an old favorite for the Super Bowl season.

Steak Chili
This is a great chili, made with steak instead of ground beef. Shredded cheddar cheese is a nice touch to garnish the bowls. You can use round steak or other less expensive cuts of beef, but simmer it longer.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups chopped onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 large red pepper, cubed
1 cup chopped celery
1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon leaf oregano
1 can (28 oz.) stewed tomatoes, with juice
1 can (5 1/2 oz) tomato paste
2 cans (19 oz.each) red kidney beans, drained
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons Worchestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
Salt and pepper

Directions:
In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, heat 1 tablespoon oil, and cook the onion and garlic over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add pepper and celery and cook another 5 minutes, until softened.
Remove vegetables from the pan. Add the remaining oil, and brown the steak cubes, in batches.
When all the steak has been browned, return the vegetables and steak cubes to the pan, over low heat.
Add the chili powder, cumin and oregano. Cook and stir for one minute.

Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, and kidney beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 45 minutes, until meat is tender.

Stir in lemon juice, Worchestershire sauce, hot sauce, and salt and pepper. Remove from heat.(About 6 servings.)

Good luck with this one and GO STEELERS!!

It all started out with some old family recipes in another blog and it has caught on. You're welcome to post yours too.

Speaking of old family recipes, I remember once when my mother made "no bake cookies" and she was out of oatmeal....she used instant potato flakes. What a card she was, not to mention the hamburger gravy she made out of walnuts. Lots of laughs on that one too.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Virgo

If you've got an important task to accomplish, this is the time to do it. A Libra Moon ensures that you're level headed, focused and unmoved by the behaviour of others for the next day or so. Don't put any undue pressure on yourself, Virgo: if you don't get it right the first time, you know there'll be another chance. The pessimistic people that you are likely to encounter today need your logic and positive input.
