I hope this student gets the help that he/she needs and that the teacher fully recovers -- both physically and psychologically. I think it's clear something is not right here. Hopefully, the student will *not* be charged as an adult and instead get the correct treatment so that he/she can correct the course of his/her life.
Prayers to all involved. |

Are you kidding? "Hopefully, the student will not be charged as an adult?" Throw the book at him. Teachers shouldn't have to worry about being attacked by the very same students they dedicate their lives to. Violence in schools is an outrage and people should wake up. I agree that psychological help is necessary. Our society must address these issues.

There are weapons all over these schools and this was overdue it is sad to say. This is not the first time a knife was brandished at a U-46 highschool this year I believe. Hopefully the teacher will be alright, but we all know that is impossible.

Just keep shoving more psychiatric drugs down children's and others throats and the violence will esculate.
Yet nothing is being done with the corrupt and those who are pushing the evil psychiatric drugs and who demand to be able to kill whomever they want in cold-blood. The health system is in the toilet and sewer. Prevention - to mold every mind and it is also about control - it is not about solving the problems of society. All the money in the world is not going to improve the present system or do anything for society. Illinois has the highest crime rate in the US and it is also known as a "Racketeering" state. |
There does seem to be something amiss when children can be found on three and four psychiatric drugs. However, I'm curious as to where you discovered that Illinois has the highest crime rate. |

The kid wasn't even in the teacher's class? This is a shock - I thought this school in Elgin was a pretty quiet, good one.
It makes me sad that incidents like these give certain people leeway to criminalize youth - I don't like it. |

Oh yeah, throwing the kids in the clink at the beginning of their lives will help them to be responsible and productive adults for the rest of their lives. Get real. Sam, it is bad that this is happening, but you know what? In this life you pay your money and you takes your chance. Period. Anything can take you away, and anything will. |
|
Right on, anonymous. Kids acting out in this way is not just kids deciding to be violent. We shove the drugs down their throat to try and force them to live this life that is killing the adults! SOMETHING IS VERY VERY WRONG HERE, AND IT'S NOT ONLY HARMING THE KIDS. Look around you. |

No, Illinois does not have the highest crime rate in the country. That dubious honor goes to the Dist. of Columbia. http://www.statemaster.com/graph/cri_vio_cri_... You might want to do a little bit of research before you make statements like that. |
I agree. I have no reason to live up there and have my kids go to school with a bunch of punk and thugs. I wanted to be a teacher at one time and a rep from U-46 came and talked to us and said that his district isn't that bad. People I work with don't want their kids going to u46 schools. And how can Elgin in a matter of a few years have so many illegals living in their town. And I can see why Bartlett wants to break away from u46 so that they don't have that negative image. |

I would wand all students of hispanic heratige. They are all caring knives. Lets thank Bush for letting these people in to work cheaply at the rich white folks factories. Thanks Bush for almost killing another teacher.

This is such a misinformed and retarded comment that I don't even know where to begin. I'm a teacher. I have found that the Latino population in my school responds to kindness with kindness. The young men are some of the most polite in the school when dealing with teachers who they know respect them. I welcome all students into my classes regardless of ethnicity. This story is sad and scary, but I'll also add in that it doesn't surprise me that the student who committed the crime was not in the teachers class. When trying to discipline students when I'm on hall duty, it's the ones that DON'T know me that are the rudest and hardest to keep under control. The kids who know me will smile and apologize when I ask them to keep their voices down. This is why schools need to be kept small. In schools that are too big kids fall through the cracks. They need to be connected to the adults in the school. |

What is it that is happening to our youth?
Times have changed dramatically. Hearing stories like this sicken me. Changes must be made, things are absolutely chaotic. I hope the teacher will be able to go back to school without having any fear of harm to her. This is devastating. I want to know this kid's motive. |
|
I never received a dime from the government and believe it or not, I never stabbed a teacher! Imagine that! |
|
I'll have you know JOE, that bartlett has a much higher discipline problem than ELgin. I was a good buddy with Detective Brown before he got his DUI and shit and he told me on a matter of fact that elgin is one of the most well behaved schools in U-46. unfortunately, we are still trying to overcome the negative image that was established by all the gangbangers back in the 70's. this kid was an anomaly as far as i'm concerned. he was probably on drugs, and thought that he was being disrespected by the teacher, so he got her back. On that note, does anyone know if the student was in fact a hispanic? |
|
first of all, what does "wand" mean? secondly, "caring" ? do you mean carrying? obviously, you are racist and not that I cater to Bush but, really? It's his fault?? seriously... |
