The FBI may scrutinize the tests and the procedures better than the TEA. EPISD and Garcia seem to be smug in their belief that the FBI will accept the TEA results. If that were so, they should ask the FBI, "Why bother with another investigation?"

Texas education has gone down the toilet. The TEA is part of the problem. The U.S Department of Education should make EPISD retest every student--under the scrutiny of the USDE and the FBI.

AT THIS POINT, THE SCHOOL BOARD SHOULD CALL A SPECIAL MEETING THIS SATURDAY TO PLACE THE SUPERINTENDENT ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE PENDING THIS INVESTIGATION.
IF THIS RUBBER STAMP EPISD SCHOOL BOARD HAS ANY HONESTY LEFT IN THEM, THEY WILL PLACE HIM ON LEAVE.

I agree, if the school board does not place the superintendent on administrative leave, we the people of this community should begin the process of recalling each board member.

This superintendent has driven EPISD to the ground. EPISD has had its problems in the past but not of this magnitude.

So please, contact all board members and request the superintendent be placed on leave. EPISD needs a superintendent like the one at SISD.

I welcome this investigation as long as it remains
detached from politics. My grandchildren's education, all of our children's education must be preserved. Let this investigation go forward, without the political meddlesome of Shapleigh. My only question is why he waited so long before he came on so strong. Sure wish that guy would just fade away. He has always had ulterior agendas.

When the Feds make it clear that EPISD has done nothing wrong, what will shapleigh come up with next?

Where was shapleigh's outrage when EPISD was in the toilet and the Board was corrupt as hell? He was silent then. But now that the district is doing well and the board isn't corrupt, shapleigh cries foul. It makes you wonder where his alliances are.

Nonetheless, the Feds will find what TEA found: nothing. And again, shapleigh will have wasted more taxpayer money.

The FEDS should be audited and investigated. You will find more corruption and wrong doing there than one could investigate in a 100 years.

This is not about Shapleigh or Garcia. It is about our children and that is where the focus needs to be. This district needs a major overhaul to begin providing the best education for our children. No one ever said the students were cheating. They are just innocent victims in this sad and sorry mess. Unfortunately, Garcia is pretty good at spinning things and people buy into his facade. I hope that once the truth comes out that we will all watch our superintendent and our school board like hawks. I

TRUE TRUE TRUE. Garcia knows very well how to play the game. Most EPISD teachers in high schools know of everything that is going on; and I do agree it is not the children that are cheating, it's Garcia and his administration that are doing all the manipulation of data and moving students (Bowie for example). We really need a leader that cares about our students and not about politics, influence and/or money.

The investigation will progress and a result will be known. Whatever the outcome, one of the most important points has been made in this blog:

Where was shapleigh's outrage when EPISD was in the toilet and the Board was corrupt as hell? He was silent then. But now that the district is doing well and the board isn't corrupt, shapleigh cries foul. It makes you wonder where his alliances are.

Shapleigh is upset at the superintendent because Garcia refused to give him control of Bowie HS, just before the turnaround. He is an arrogant ass who is a shame to our community - along with the officials who support him.

If Garcia is guilty of these charges then fire him. But never forget that a lot of corruption went on in EPISD long before these allegations surfaced - and Shapleigh initiated NO investigations. He's not worried about wrongdoing, he wants power. He should be shamed and vilified by our community.

If the FBI opened an official investigation it will be at least 18-24 months before they complete the work. They are very careful about going over documents and following their processes. Those "senior adminstrators" (from the article) who say there are problems will be compelled to go on record and state officially what they have been allegedly been saying to Mr. Shapleigh unofficially. I bet alot of gossip will stop now, this is no longer a joke.

I don't think cheating in the TAKS is going on, but there certainly are other things going on in EPISD. Like misuse of funds and that is what should be investigated. All the higher ups, including Garcia, have outrageously inflated salaries, and they are constantly out of town, taking trips on your taxpayer money. Not only that but bad management starting from the Board, to Garcia, to all his "Cabinet" and countless supervisors he has. They go around the schools intimidating principals and teachers; and make instructional decisions that are detrimental for the students. Not to mention morale. Garcia should resign and leave while he can without having to be thrown out. Everyone knows about his personal life and how it has affected the District and those children he claims to be concerned about. He should be ashamed.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Aquarius

There simply aren't enough hours in the day today for you to do everything that's on your list, so concentrate on the priorities. Don't feel guilty about what's been left out and start to worry about it. This isn't an easy day because you're feeling pressured and anxious, so don't expect too much from yourself. There's less energy than usual, which doesn't help.
