With any luck, the recall of the constitution stomping mayor cook will lead the ballot. El Paso City Council eyes $600-$800M bond: New arena, stadiums part of Nov. ballot plan El Pasoans may be asked to vote for a $655 million to $835 million bond issue that could include a new multipurpose arena and stadiums for major league soccer and Triple-A baseball teams, as well as parks, pools and community centers and the reconstruction of streets. There is no more blood to give, what don't ya get? All these pie in the sky dreams are solicited by business willing to invest, not saddled on the backs of welfare collecting residents!

Go for it if and only if, we get to name the team. Here's some suggestions: Los Aztecas Los Rancheros Los Mayas Not stupid stupid shit like The Generals or tejanos. Also only if its built in Eastside or Lower Valley, anywhere but the Northeast we all know what the trashy people of the northeast did with Cohen staduim. Also a portion of earnings must go to help the poor like la fe, dame last mano, lulac, abundant faith living.

I'm not saying we need all the amenities that they have, but a few would be nice. We definitely need more beer vendors because when I used to go to the Indios games, I would have to buy a beer then go to the back of the line and wait for another while I drank the one I just bought. Excellent point, also we must insist on upholding the traditions, like throwing beer cups or the banos de rellones, for you vendidos that's pissing in the cup and chucking it after a homerun.

Lupe wrote: <quoted text> What percent of the bond do you foresee going to help the poor? Don't insult me by proposing anything less than 40%. That sounds about right, also i would not mind a little Kick back going to the city and county reps and their families that push this through.

I take it you don't own property here in ElPaso and pay tax on it. Next they don't even have a second rate baseball team in this town. If you like soccer go over to J-town and watch the Indios or did these big brave futbol players chichen out and leave Juarez and run for the border north like the other half of Juarez people that would not stay and fight for their own city.

The Mexican people of El Paso already have Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez. The rich gringo republicans have to use that money to build the Mexican people public housing with refrigerated air conditioning close to Franklin high school so the Mexican children can have a good education. Do it for the children.

And they should change the name of franklin high school to Benito Juárez High School. He was the Abraham Lincoln of Mexico, he freed the slaves of Mexico. A Great man and we should honor him!

Luis wrote: <quoted text> What difference does it make if I own property or rent or commute from out of town? Either way, I have a great place to live and am a proud member of the community. Also, I don't cross over the border to watch sports - only to buy my favorite label of tequila and to pick up a lady for the evening. I like to watch my sports here in town which is why we desperately need this stadium. Rep. Noe is in favor of it and I am behind him all the way. Relax I like sport just as much as Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPN 2 or Dan Patrick its just soccer futbol and boxing is really the only sports they give a hoot about around here. For a town this size as ElPaso Texas it really is a shame for a sports town. If UTEP is winning fine if not they all jump off the band wagon. Also they like cheap cheap events free this or free that 25 cent or free parking free tickets or maybe 1 dollars admisson all children under 25 for free. 25 cent beer 25 cent hot dogs and popcorn. And to top it off they trash the bathrooms and parking lots with broken glass and used diapers and clean out their car like its the landfill. If I were rich and and really rich like Carlos Slim rich could buy a nice sporting team of any sort I would think long and real long as not to be taxed to death before I would move any sporting team here to ElPaso.

I only drink Bud Lites! It's racist that the americanos don't let the Mexican people buy Bud Lites with the Lonestar card! I have to have La Gorda sell T-bones that she buys with the Lone Star card to people on the eastside so I can get the money for Bud Lights.

This tyhread is a perfect example of why El Paso is the backwater border town it is. A legitimate concern was brought up by the originator of this thread. Another bond issue we can not afford for things we do not need. Then within a very few posts it deteriorates to a bunch of fools ranting on things that have nothing to do with the subject. Until the fools like that go away El Paso will never be anything more than a border crossing.

Agreed 100% someone was just looking to steal from the taxpayers with all the corruption around here.Alot of contracts around here are done behind closed doors with the taxpayers money paying.
