Thank you for replying. Mr. Wyatt is a personable man? He must be for you to think so highly of him. You must have first hand experience. My opinion thus far has been dedicated and in-depth. My disappointment is with the advent of Mr. Wyatt's rumored appointment of McCloskey as his second in command. Why? Where did this come from? If he had true ambitions (the goal of Sheriff) in his profession, his career, why are there so many holes, a lack of career advancement?
My concern is with the safety of my neighbors, my family. The current and pressing dangers of the gangs, property crimes, drug trafficking, corruption, violent crimes that threaten our community, our families... Albeit, it's the Sheriff's job to honor his oath, his should know the law/Constitution by the letter. It's our job to vote for the most qualified, strongest "stand alone" candidate. Mr. Christesen is running on his own merit. He's said that he will continue to run on his own merit.
We lost out in the second term of Melton. He left us high and dry. He took an oath to serve for a full 4 years, well....
Think about it, the Sheriff, an elected official. All entities respect an elected official. The people have spoken.
Unfortunately, Melton left us high and dry. Guess we got the short end of the stick.
I would prefer the short end of the stick over Christesen. It's as easy as ABC. Anyone But Christesen.

I know both Ken & Wyatt and each has their strong points. I was torn on who to support until I read the article on Ken's website about his involvement in Operation Farmland and the ex-deputy involved with drug dealers. The article was a bunch of self promoting bull with no basis in real fact. He took credit for the work of others that he was not even slightly involved with. That was enough to show me a side Ken that I had not seen before and do not like. If he is willing to promote himself in this way, I am not interested in finding out what he will do as Sheriff.

Skoal, Amen. You hit the nail right on the head. I liked Ken until he started campaigning, and then the lies, exagerations and self-promotion at the expense of outright truthfulness just left a bad taste in my mouth. While I do not know all the story, I do know this. You are absolutely, 100% without a doubt correct. I also had not seen this side of Ken, and it's disappointing. I also cannot support him because of this. He did not have to take this approach but he did. Thanks Skoal for your outrght frankness.
Even if Wyatt has asked McCloskey to be his undersheriff, he's still heads and shoulders above Ken.

Marlan might be a good choice but having McCloskey as undersheriff would be defeating in purpose. While at FPD under the leadership of McCloskey numerous improprieties had occurred. An officer involved in the theft of weapons was terminated and prosecuted. That officer was involved in the infamous horse scandal in which a donated horse was sold in which McCloskey was later written up for. Sometime later another officer was found to have traded a substantial amount of department ammunition, which was labeled LE Use Only, with a local sporting goods store for personal items. Ammunition he had which was available to him because he was a SWAT officer. That officer was never charged, never reassigned, never disciplined most likely because of a strong anti-union stance. That officer later had an officer terminated or "resign"for the theft of a spellchecker he had found in the building. Also McCloskey only reassigned a detective who had falsified several reports to clear cases was moved to the bottom of the Sgts list and reassigned to patrol. McCloskey also permitted a Sergeant to conduct an investigation in which "a mystery unit: failed to respond to assist another officer involved in a pursuit because he had an unauthorized ride-along. That Sergeant requested discipline be levied against several officersand when it was discovered the "mystery unit" was another supervisor. Is that what the citizens of San Juan County and the deputies of the SO deserve in an undersheriff. I don;t think so. If you're not one of the chosen you are most likely driven out.

Not sure what all this has to do with Skoal's and Andy's depiction of Christensen. How does it go on the website? Integrity at the top? Good luck, Marlyn, we do need integrity at the top.

Well I think all of you need to check your facts on Christensen. He was the supervisor for the Region 2 task force when the scandal went down. He is one of the ones who went to the FBI to get the investigation started (talk to Bill Hall FBI). He is also one who gave them an investigator (Skinner) to help them with catching who the dirty cop was. He was involved in the entire process, even if it was only as the supervisor. Ask any of the agents that were assigned to the Region 2 at that time and they will tell you. Ask anyone who has directly worked for Ken and they will tell you how GREAT it is to work for him.
I will end this with saying Marlin is a very GREAT guy as well but I just dont know if he is ready to jump from a Detective to the Lead head man Sheriff.

Facts checked, facts. And if you think you have your facts correct, I would check your facts again. And if people tell you that your facts are correct, then I would question them. Your facts are wrong, dead wrong. And I know they are wrong. Need I say more? Integrity starts at the top. Marlyn for Sheriff. The truth will set you free, Facts. May you learn the errors of your ways.

Yes I would like for you to tell a whole lot more. I have talked to most of the people involved and that is what I posted, if you have anything different bring it to the table for all to see. If not you are just posting garbage to try and get someone elected that you prefer.
BRING US FACTS of your claims!!!!!!!!!!

All this is truth and can be proven by incident reports and police reports written by the officers and supervisors themselves.

Same story on this, truth, and can be found in the reports written by the region2 detectives, investigators from the local law enforcement departments. Everything has a paper trail and that trail can be followed through reports from every cop involved. Since the trials are all done and over, even the federal court system has copies, depositions etc. that can be viewed. Why would a canidate lie about a background that can be proven so easily by paper trails? Ken was the reason the dirty cops got caught in the end, nuff said!

Thank you, that is exactly what I was trying to tell them. EVERYTHING has a paper trail and is public record. Why would you try and lie about this. I have talked to alot of the Officers and they said Ken was involved. The only reason these two are saying these bad things is to sway the votes away from Ken. Which in turn is only hurting Marlin in the end (I can guarantee Marlin didnt endorse these guys to say these things).
Just bring us the truth so all voters can make their own (informed) decisions about who they want to be Sheriff.

Never battle those that have a personal agenda. My research has gleened that there is a paper trail,(media) as I've read a few articles in various media archives that back up everything you've said. Any journalist worth his beans will have done his homework, backed up his research and report only facts. As you mentioned... citizens... do your homework. Find out how to contact them. You can direct your questions to the candidates, personally. Prepare yourself by prioritizing your highest concerns and your perception of the local citizenry's safety concerns. What do you expect/demand from an elected official? What is his/her vision? Are they running their campaign on their own merit, recognition and ambitions... or that of another? Christesen has my support.

I don't work with the SO, but I have worked very closely with Detective Wyatt. I know for a fact that he wants to better San Juan County. So what, he has not been a Captain, L.T., Sgt., but he does not kiss A##! He's straight forward and tells it how it is! He's down to "earth" and that is what we need. San Juan County does not need someone that does not back thier Deputies on the RIGHTFULL decisions they make. Wyatt YOU HAVE MY VOTE!!!!

Exactly right, JUSTme. Wyatt is honest, cares about the job instead of promoting himself. We need to look at the CHARACTER of the person, not just the things they're CLAIMING to have done. I trust Wyatt's character and his motivations so much more. It will all come out in the wash. Wyatt for Sheriff!*

You sound so bitter. Why? What are your motivations? How can you win an election without promoting yourself, or without establishing your endeavors? Let's look into the "CHARACTER" of the candidates. You prove your allegations. Quit bad mouthing Mr. Christesen... Let's look into the candidate's enthusiasm. There should be documentation to back up contemplative decisions as serious as aspiring to pledge the security of the SJC citizens. Christesen is running on his own merit, his own ambitions. Wyatt has confirmed he's requested McCloskey as his running mate, right out of the gate. Where is this coming from? Answer this and we'll be on even ground.

Hi Whammer Jammer - just for the record, I heard from the horse's mouth that Wyatt has NOT asked McClokey to be his Undersheriff. That's a bold-faced lie. So you're asking me why I'm saying there are mis-truths being spread in this campaign? Absolutely there are. I don't know if you're being lied to or are doing the lying yourself. But lying is happening, and not just about this issue. Enough for now.

Melton left office to get Mark in and now Mark is using his own friends and personnel to stay in a position of power. Why not let someone else take the reigns? There will be plenty of other choices for Sheriff in the near future. Choose wisely.
How do you know? if that is true I'll pull my support from Wyatt..is there any facts, anyone can say anything but facts can be proven..Mark, a snake in the grass, I'll agree with that.

"how do you know", just so you know, it is not true because I asked Marlyn, as someone under the name "Facts" challenged me to do. Marlyn has integrity and I believe the man who stands up as a role model to our children. Next.
