"Everybody thought of the hospital as being the hospital of last resort. The poor were always looking forward to coming here and not paying a penny.
Well, there's no free lunch," Commissioner Miguel Terán said. Unless, of course, you’re Mexican.

Yes Jane, that's what Thomason is all about. When they mean health center of the Southwest, they don't believe insured patients from Phoenix, Arizona or Las Cruces will come. It's the big freebie hospital for all of northern Mexico. Tax Americans to death to give Mexicans the free health care they demand from us.

And they will not be expected to pay a penny.

Keep a close eye on your tax bill from the Hospital Disrict. Indeed, There is no free lunch-this is going to create astronomical tax increases. Yes bonds will cover the cost of construction, however the operating expenses will be paid for by taxes. Valenti swore to the crouds that the Children's Hospital would not cost the public a cent-then increased the tax rate for it specifically before ground was broken. Our motto should be "Only the best Health Care for Mexican Nationals". El Pasoans are Sheep being led to slaughter.

See they are going to build something. And WE the abused taxpayers thought all the time these crooks were just stuffing their pockets. Of course, the "Chief Crook Valenti" does get a pay check from US for several hundred-thousand $$$$$$$ per year. That "it's for the children" hospital is right up there with all the other SCAMS in this city. "El Pas0-Taxes without any representation".

Why would anyone with health insurance go to a hospital in that area of town? It is a toilet, and the hospital has a well deserved reputation of being second rate.

Yes, expect our property taxes to go Up, Up, Up. 120 million! Yea right. They'll be coming at us for more ... Oh, sorry. They'll just get it! They know how to play El Pasoans. "It's for the Children". I think I've heard that before, sure sounds familiar, Oh, they got that line from the school districts. And it sure worked! "The best doctors"! What a joke. They'll bring in more doctors from other countries, none of which speak Spanish and very broken English - and who are the patients? Mexicans who don't speak English from Mexico, of course. Yes, thank you Thomason, or should we thank Texas Tech? They're so intertwined, I don't know who we should thank!

Why do you people always have to be so negative about everything? It is that kind of attitude that has not allowed El Paso to move forward. And Thomason is not a second rate hospital, it might have been in the past but that has since changed and it has been proven in many national studies. Oh and one more thing, stop talking about Mexicans not being charged or taking advantage of the hospital. By now everyone knows that the Mexican govt or the state of Chihuahua has paid for most of the services that these people have gotten at the hospital and all the others that have been treated were American citizens. Can't you guys say anything worthy of reading instead of the same old rhetoric?!?!?

Jimmy, Jimmy, thought we was best friends. Now why would you say "OLD and "IDIOT" in the same sentence?? Thats not very nice, you know. I just try to be nice to people, thats why I try to let other people have the few jobs that are available. Now would you work (assuming you do) if you didn't have to work??? Thats a fair question don't you think?? I did work at one time, but you know wars can do some real nasty things to body parts. So yes, when I get tired of the computer and trying to defend my opinion on stuff, I just pack a bag and head to Las Vegas or Paris or Sicily. But "old Idiot"?? Don't mean nothing, no big deal.

All you people do is complain and complain any time this city progresses. Your attitude is that El Pasoans should put up with second rate healthcare options just to ensure that Mexican nationals don't get good healthcare. Well I for one am glad that my 2 year-old will have healthcare options on par with other areas of the state. If you don't like the fact that Mexican nationals cross the border to access better healthcare, then move to Austin, Lubbock, or Timbuktu, and it won't be an issue for you.

It's not an "issue" about where WE live or don't live. Whats at "issue" is the the City , County of El Paso FORCES the tax payers to pay for these people. It is not our responsibility to support, provide for Mexican nationals. That is the Government of Mexico's responsibility. Why people like you think it's okay for these people to take OUR tax money is beyond comprehension. Maybe you and the politicos and the boss at Thomason are independently wealthy and can afford to give away money. The rest of the people in El Paso cannot.
