Border issues: Time for feds to hear our concerns

Some of our elected officials continue to join local activist groups in ringing the federal government's doorbell -- we want sitdowns in Washington, D.C. regarding border and immigration concerns.

Times, look at your own polls - and please don't include me when you use the term "we" and "our". The American public, nationwide, wants a fence. Even in the border area, the division is more in favor than not based on polls the Times itself repeatedly conducts, changing the wording each time to attempt to skew the results (the latest attempt involved pitting the economy and lack of apprehensions against the cost of completing the fence) all to no avail.

"We" want border security. At a time when the Mexican criminal element is making its presence felt here in El Paso (which "you" opined would never happen) and half a million new jobless claims have been filed in a month, our security is more important than ever.

Funny how "you" don't want a fence, but complain about aid for our hospitals. Maybe do a story on how much the illegal alien population in general costs Thomason vs. Juarez gunshot victims, and I believe you might find a new cause celebree. Oh, wait - that wouldn't fit "your" liberal agenda.

Yes, border issues impact "our" lives. But they also impact the lives of around 305 million others in this country - and "your" views, while considered, can't outweigh the health, safety, and welfare of the vast majority. Dictatorships seem more "your" political bent, so long as all the decisions are made in "your" favor. Perhaps crown yourself King and see how that goes.

Your approach to be heard is well guided. By continuing to put political pressure on Washington will your concerns be heard. It is the "squeaky wheel that gets the grease." Unfortunately, the last administration was only listening to radical, extremist right's concerns. This problem affects all society as a whole.

The immigration issue is a complicated problem that encompasses economical, social, political, international, and local concerns. A solution will need to be comprehensive, with stakeholders from the different realms of the spectrum. A solution will need input and buy in from the various stakeholders to work.

It is time for a real solution. Enough of the hate mongrols and xenophobia based solutions that are not offering solutions, just enrichening the few benefactors of these ill-guided efforts.

And there it is!!! John Cook already been B***H slapped several times by Chertoff for arguing and filing law suits against OUR security fence. Now we got Wiles, Jose Rodriguez, who just got elected ( aren't WE paying them to do JOBS now????) and other local politicos, who apparently only represent Mexico and Illegal Mexicans and NOT the taxpayers of El Paso, in DC knocking on doors. Thought it was funny. Guess the only person they got to see was somebody who makes coffee for somebody. I think WE should be asking, where the hell this money is coming from. Wanna bet it's OUR tax money they are wasting on this boondoggle?? OUR security fence has been built, IS being built. So now all these bozos need to get back to El Paso and earn their pay check or give the jobs up to somebody who can and will do them.

I think they will go out of their way to take a poll in a mexican area of LA to give the results they want. All across America people want a fence and safe boundaries for our nation. But our politicians dont work for us anymore. Theyve been working for the UN and corporate interests for a long long time.

Sad to know our El Paso City Fathers are so stupid to think Hussein Obama will stop the building of the fence. The American people would run Obama out of office if he even suggested it, especially the Blacks. Wake up City Fathers, the fence is here to stay. You think it was planned yesterday? A plan was put in place shortly after 9-11 and will be executed. Even the illegals are helping to build it with their cheap labor, go figure....Obama doesn't even know you or El Paso exist. He has bigger fish to fry with our economy and the war. If you don't like the fence, move further North where you can't see it and won't have any affect on you.

These are the same elected officials who got elected by telling the people of EL Paso that we were the second safest city in the country thanks to their service. Now they are trying to score points with us by pretending to be working for us in Washington. How are they going to stop the construction of the wall by the federal government when they can't even take graffiti of the walls by local teenagers. Wiles once again is using taxpayer money to find more homosexual encounters. Oh, stop! Don't tell me that I'm spreading lies, the truth is like Richard Wiles; IT WILL COME OUT!
