Garcia resigns from EPISD

"Lorenzo Garcia, the embattled superintendent of the largest school district in the El Paso area, officially stepped down from his post Tuesday night.
The El Paso Independent School District accepted Garcia's letter of resignation during its board meeting. Garcia's resignation comes three months after the superintendent was arrested and indicted on federal fraud charges.
The superintendent, who was placed on unpaid administrative leave shortly before the start of the school year in August, is charged with two counts of mail fraud, one count of conspiring to commit mail fraud and one count of aiding theft from a program that receives federal funds."

Thank God he has finally seen the light. I hope they from within the system and limit the amount of money to pay by capping the salary at just below $200,000.00 plus health benefits. As the person would already be living here paying for a house and moving expenses would be off the table.

One thing is that no one from Bowie High school should be chosen until the federal government has finished checking the violations of NCLB testing. Our present interim President appears to be okay.

Our interim staff still consists of Dr Garcia's yes men and lackies. Central Office needs to be replaced. They are just as guilty as Garcia is for letting him get away with this robbery of funds from the students.
I am in shock at the level of denial the board of trustees and the Teachers Unions vocalizes in this city. They apparently do not read the papers or talk with anyone.
Shame on you Union Leaders for failing the students and teachers so miserably! Board of Trustees have misrepresented and failed the people they were supposed to represent. They have shown themselves to side with the crimminal element. Little wonder that so many have chosen to leave city as quickly as possible.

I understand just as this Superintendant leaves the Central Office is planning to ask for another Bond to "improve" school buildings.
I'm afraid that these people just don't get it. We are NOT going to approve any money to them for waste until they clean house. This school district must think of them selves some higher class of humans or society.
They need to understand, WE pay their salary, they work for US. They seem to have a "I'm better than you" attitude. Don't just go to the schools to see this go to their holy of holies at Boeing Complex.

Legally we have to pay the thief off, and in the meantime fire ALL of his central office cronies and minion's. This includes Terri Jordan, every single person in that office was aware of Garcia's misdeeds and should be held accountable. No more of this turning a blind eye to the thievery. Let's force the school board's to put an end to six figure salaries to people who do little more than agree with the status quo. There has to be some honest El Pasoan's out there that will do an honest days work for a decent wage.

The school system and its present level of function should be suspect. People for years have complained that "experts" have played with the numbers and through the use of smoke and mirrors we have a recognized and star studded school system. Harvard and Yale are all beating a path to EPISD.
WRONG! The system has just gotten better at hiding those students that can't read well or perform as well as the others. What happened to Special Ed? Did the closing of Asarco also lessen the need for special ed? Did they get their hands slapped for all the Modified end of year tests they were handing out the last couple of years?
Hummmmmmmm? I wonder how they will perform this year now that the feds are watching. Central Office will swear up and down it is because we don't throw enough money at them that they perform so poorly.
Please save us from this band of snake oil salesmen.

What other options did he have? Now he can start sending out resumes to other school districts after he gets out of the slammer. Now if Johnny Crook, Susie and Stevie would do the same and save the taxpayers more money.

Yes, Dr Garcia was a credit to his race. But his womanizing and theft speaks volumes of those in education. The city and its citizens may not recover from this insult. We have been hurt by the lies and misrepresentation of some one who was doing it, "for the kids"

Wasn't he going after a sweet deal in San Antonio? TEA thinks he is great but they are in Austin. What about his women? Where are they going to go?

He should be branded with a "T" on his forehead to show everybody what he really is, a THIEF that has no remorse or conscience. I'm willing to bet that RAT sleeps good knowing he fleeced the sheeple in El Paso. Remember the school board gave him everything, a house,car, ridiculous salary, life insurance policy and a $1,000 a month for a cell phone and electronic media, and all he did was rip us off with the help of his enabaler's the (school board lackies and the central office).

He ain't any different than anybody else that works for the ISD. Pedophiles, slackers, thieves, drug addicts and drunks.

Look at the city manager, she gets a 2 million dollar deal whether she quits, retires or gets fired. And to make you swallow it with a sweet taste. They use the same BS that El Patron of PSB uses. "That's what other people in my position get paid in other cities". Wonder why the employees cant use that same logic. The other BS is that we need to pay superior wages and benefits to get the best people. If these people are the best, I hate to see the worst!

Oh yes, one more BS excuse. "This is a border town so we only pay border town wages". However that rule doesnt apply to these greedy officials.

The plumber! Not to be outdone, El Patron of PSB simply points to another city and states he wants the same package as his counterpart in that city. Then, blushing and grinning, he states the title change from Director to CEO was FORCED on him. The damn title was created so he could get paid even more!

Then to help swallow the BS excuses, they tell you that superior wages and benefits gets the best. I'd hate to see the worst if this is the best! The other BS is that we live in a border town so can only get border town wages. Wonder why that BS doesnt apply to them.

I heard a rumor which I cannot substantiate that he insisted the women wear thong underwear on Fridays so he could get an eyeful of their buttocks and rumps. Anyway, it's great that he's gone and now I predict smooth sailing for EPISD as they reclaim the top spot in the city.

Very true about his women of Central Office. He is gone but his lackeys are still in place continueing to do what they can to make as much money as they can as fast as they can.
We need to replace those admistrators he put in place and lower the class sizes by getting those teachers out of the classroom back into the trenches where they can do the most good. If not, I suppose Dr Garcia left a forwarding address where they continue doing what ever it is that they do.

One time I went into his office to sweep it out and he was sitting in his chair at his desk. There was a woman standing next to him bending over the desk. He had his hand way up her skirt, all the way up. When I came in I thought he would take his hand out of her skirt but he just left it there. I think he dug it in a little bit deeper into her. She just continued to bend over the desk and did not seem to mind his groping. He kept on working and using his other hand to turn over papers and answer the phone and sign papers. Later that afternoon I saw him in the parking lot driving away. He was smelling his fingers.

Sad, but true of this guy. Central Office wasn't called the Pleasure Palace for nothing. It was very scary when he went out to the segundo barrio to take pictures with the young girls who dropped out of school.
His people are still in place and those spin doctors are working as hard as they can to convince you and me that all we need to do is give them more money.
