this is a private business and most usually have a sign up that says they have a right to refuse service to anyone. This could be you or me, regardless of our skin color, sexual orientation, etc.
They do not receive govt funding so you can't make them do anything.

How sad that we continue to live in a society where a brief display of affection between two people is judged to be inappropriate.

There is so much hatred for each other in the world that it it is truly disappointing. We need to spend more time caring and loving each other, no matter our differences instead of focusing on issues that we disagree with.

Truly caring for others is the only way that any of us can "live" on beyond our mortal end. I try to act each day in a way that will create memories of me that will be held in other's hearts in a positive way.

Love between two people is a wonderful event. We need to encourage that, not stiffle it as was done by the people in this case.

Sorry, but you don't know your own laws. Both the state of Texas and El Paso passed laws that ANY business that was open to eat, sleep, etc could not discriminate because of sexual orientation. That was years ago. It does not have to receive government funding....

A sign that says a "right to refuse service to anyone" is not a violate the law free card for "private businesses". If they are open to the public, they have to abide by the laws which regulate public accommodations in their area. If the law says that you cannot refuse service on the basis of race, or religion, or sex, or national origin or even sexual orientation, if a patron can prove that they were refused service on such a protected basis, there are legal remedies they can seek against that business. Such a discriminatory act by a business can result in a fine or even a lawsuit for breaking the law. While they "can't be made to do anything", they can sure be made to pay a price for violating the law which regulates the manner in which they conduct business.

You know this is getting out of hand. Where are the rights of a business owner. Sometimes it is in the best interest of "the person asked to leave" to remove themselves from the area.

I have eaten in this restaurant lots of times and I can tell you, there are children present. If I saw a man and women carrying on in public, being too affectionate I would ask them to stop or leave.

I believe for the most part, affection shown in public should be limited. No matter who it is between. Especially in a family environment.

I understand from this article, it was a peck. I wouldn't have been offended by that. However, I don't believe in homosexuality, and I don't believe in hate. But common sense should be used in public places. Homosexuality is a sensitive issue, I would think you would be a little more cautious about creating attention to yourself.

How sad the government forces a business to serve people they do not want to serve and tries to tell them what to do. If they do not want queers in their restarant or want to allow smoking then they should. It should be if people do not like the rules then they do not have to eat there. Not everyone wants to see two freaks kiss each other.

I guess the American notion of equality doesn't make sense to you.

Here's the deal, if you open a business TO THE PUBLIC you are not allowed to discriminate. This is no different from putting up a "no blacks" sign, which was shown illegal FIFTY YEARS AGO.

And you no more have a "right" to allow customers to kill your other customers and employees with second hand smoke than you do the "right" to serve rancid meat.

I agree. I'd throw out the Catholics and Baptists too.

Did you read the article? It said it was at 12:30 AM.(To make it clear to you that is after midnight not middle of the day) I'll bet that there were not any children present at 12:30 AM to see the small kiss. If there wer children present their parents should be the ones in trouble for keeping small kids out at that time of night.
Crawl back under your rock and you will not have to see things like this....Oh wait you live in CarlsBAD and everything is great and nothing wrong/bad/immoral happens in CarlsBAD, so just stay there.

Why do we have to get some idiot from NY posting here? This is Carlsbad, not New York you freak. What happens here should be no concern to you. Unfortunately, you have these idiots trolling all the boards because they feel that they have to stand up to gay issues.

I do not blame them for being thrown out. I would tell the gay couple that they need to conduct their business else where, if my kids were present. I do not want my children seeing two people of the same sex kissing whatsoever. It should be my right to control what my children see when they are in public. I would also tell the hetero couple to stop feeling one another up as well.

Seriously though, do a bunch of gay rights people sit around on Topixs waiting for gay issues to come up so they can post in that thread?

That is their whole point. They want to turn the whole world gay. They figure if kids see it then the kids will be gay too.

What a hilariously idiotic lie. NOBODY is "turned gay." This isn't about changing anyone's orientation, which CANNOT be changed. They're not trying to turn kids gay. Just to stop the discrimination and violence...which you obviously support.

Your kids will know that gay people exist, seeing people kiss never harmed anyone. If you want to hide your children from the world, keep them in the basement, it is NOT your "right" to keep people out of public because your bigotry causes you to think SEEING them will burn your kids' eyeballs out.
