The Vegans and PETA terrorists are identified as domestic terrorists groups by the FBI. WHY are they poisoning the minds of our youth under the guise of EDUCATION? CLEARLY, some oversight is missing, a lot of oversit is missing. The slaughterhouse video has been used before, for several years now, and finally it hits the news, but to WHAT AVAIL? Freedom of speech ??? Nonsense! BOYCOTT these " educators "

This is the typical so called higher education crap. They have an agenda and force feed it to a captive crowd. This type garbage should never be allowed and the guest speaker should be banned from ever speaking in front of syudents again. The teacher that brought him in should be fired if that teacher knew what the content was to be, and by the way that he insisted that everyone stay and not walk out I would venture a guess that he knew exactly what was to be presented. That so called president of UTEP is a coward for not meeting with the student, but then that is no surprise. I would have still walked out of the so called lecture and placed my complaint with the Dean.

This person should be banned from the university and the professor should be suspended for the semester. Every class depicting slaughter of animals or humans should have warnings and an opt out by the student except in zoology and animal husbandry classes. Those two classes automatically assume some type of dissection of animals. Then on top of the vivid nature of the clips shown, the vile words of the "guest" speaker are in violation of University rules. The Guest speaker's class should have been vetted by the head of the department. The students have a right to object to this "freedom of Speech" when they are "captive" participants by the professor. Shame on the University and professor Louis Herman.

If I walked into a class where you are a student and told you that if you left the class because of the content was objectionable and that I had a devout Christian lecturing you and he called you a satanist and you and your family are going to be condemned to hell, you would object to being subjected to the class and the penalty. This was foisted upon the students without any warning and the objectionable language by the Guest speaker is in violation of the University's rules of conduct.

Ever been near a fish processing plant? Not a pretty sight nor smell.

A 38 yr. old woman did'nt walk out of class because the speaker would have called her a "coward"? I would ask this lady, when are you going to stick up for yourself? If it was that objectionable why did'nt she walk straight down to the "queens" office and demand to be heard? It is so much easier to vent to the newspaper, why not KVIA,FOX or the other so called "news sources" here in town. I'm impressed with the fact she is in school at her "advanced age", she does'nt stand much of a chance in the real world if she can be pushed around so easily.

Shame on the University and professor Louis Herman. At Yale, this is "sex week" university wide. Lectures are being given by porn stars and seminars after being offered on sexting, sex blogging, BDSM and many other topics. The students there love it and look forward to it each year. If Yale can do something like this, surely UTEP can also have a guest speaker from time to time on a controversial topic.

As a proud vegan, I must speak up. This lecturer did nothing wrong. Showing the video or animal abuse is no different that the new sonogram law which forces poor, disadvantaged women to view their unborn child frolicking in the womb before they are sucked out with a vacuum and flushed down the crapper. People need to see the abuses that go on in slaughterhouses and how animals, who are people like us, are made to suffer so that we can enjoy a burger or a dog. I applaud this lecturer and give a Bronx cheer to the complainer.

I give a big bronx salute to UTEP as this lecturer had no business talking to an English Class. An Animal Husbandry Class maybe or a Vet Class but what in the name of anything did this have to do with English? By the way Animals are not People they are animals.

At Yale no one is required to sit through any of these seminars or lectures. They choose to do it and they know the content prior to attending. That was not the case for this woman. She was required to sit through it and she had no idea as to the content prior to the start.

Spoken by someone who is both piggish and priggish. It doesn't matter what class it was as the professor has every right to call in someone who is competent to lecture on such an important topic. All you men who stuff your face with ribs, chops and bacon burgers are off limits to women of discernment like myself because not only does it give you a gut the size of the Franklins, but you also end up gassing all over the place. In advance of Valentimes Day, I urge all women of taste to refuse to go out with a man who is not vegan, not only to support animal rights but also to avoid having a man fart in your face.

Guess you forgot to read the entire section on where the lecturer denigrated the students. IT violated the schools policy. and Yes there should have been an out for the students who did not wish to be trapped in a classroom like they were. God gave man animals to help with travel, farming and eating. Goats for milk and cheese and cattle for food. You are a fanatical person who should not be in charge of any classroom.

You know it is funny but i get gassed up much more by Cabbage, and broccoli then I do by burgers, ham, bacon, chicken, venison, salmon, sword fish, lobster, or any other form of animal protein. You have opened my eyes to one thing though. Your comment about big guts etc. How about you give us all a list of the top VEGAN athletes! I don't seem to recall many VEGANS amoung the most fit people in the world. As to women like you not wanting anything to do us type men, THANK YOU!!! I have yet to see a VEGAN Woman that wasn't either so dang skinny she would blow away in a breath of air or just plain crazy. Now I am not sure what you do for recreation and it is totally up to you. You have the freedom to do whatever turns you on but I just need to ask, "What are you doing with your face in a man's backside to begin with"?

Most of the men I date love it when I "toss their salad" prior to coitus as it drives them hog wild with desire. As to the athlete question, Bill Walton is a vegan and he was one of the most dominant players of his era. I don't follow sports that much so I don't know of any others, but I'd be surprised if there aren't quite a few more. Obviously the big uglys who play offensive line in football aren't vegan with their enormous bellies, but I'd bet many foreign athletes are.

I'm not in charge of any classroom and never claimed to be. As to the denigration charge, that is subject to opinion as many students feel attacked when they offer their hare brained opinions on matters they have no working knowledge of. Most of these college students nowadays only care about burning blunts, raising hell and getting laid so for them to cry foul is quite rich.

You're Absolutely correct...BUT... it should be: 1. Topic should be advertised 2. Attendance should be voluntary 3. Held at a proper venue, "not part of a class setting that had nothing to do with this topic" Personally, I would have walked out. If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?

Whatevr spins your wheels if you enjoy licking out a bung hole than more power to ya it is your perogative. Bill Walton also was a vegetarian not a VEGAN. There are many people that have excelled at sports as vegetarians or in some cases vegans but there are a great deal more of them that eat an omniverous diet. It is funny you pick out offensive linemen with their as you put it, "Enormous bellies" yet there was a very good power lifter that was a vegetarian and if you have ever watched power lifting you would know that they in many cases have enormous bellies. Now are you insinuating that there are no fat vegans? I will give you an example that happened to a good friend of mine. She was an anti red meat person not a vegan but would only eat chicken or fish and vegies. She was feeling run down, tired and just generally bad. She went to the doctor and the doctor gave her a prescription. She told her to, "Eat some damn red meat girl". So about 1 time a week she would eat a serving of red meat and low and behold she felt much better. So I will continue to eat all the things that the good lord put on this earth for me to eat.

You should try sticking your tongue up your woman's bonghole sometime - I'm sure she would love it. I don't know the difference between vegan and vegetarian as I am a johnny come lately to this lifestyle. All I know is that this lecturer was right on about the abuse - I saw a video one time myself which showed the Colonel himself running into a hen house with a meat cleaver and hacking the birds to pieces for a fry up. It was at the onion newspaper which is a highly reputable on-line news outlet. And I never said that vegans were all slim either - you're the one that made that comment in your initial reply. I actually dated a man one night who was a vegan but his belly was so large that it took me some time to find his package. My patience was rewarded, however, as he was hung like a pack mule.
