Tax leech unions using taxpayer money to buy crooked politicians to give the unions more of tax money. And the people of El Monte are too stupid to not vote for them. They get what they deserve. One of the highest sales tax rates to pay for one of the most crime ridden places to live.

Tricky Glick said:

"El Monte POA does not run the city of El Monte. We never endorsed the candidates thinking these are two people we can control."

That's funny because the POA comes up again and again and AGAIN over the years as the "king maker" of El Monte Politics:

Let's hope Andy and Norma mean what the say when they say they want to put the residents first.

Anyone want to take bets on whether the police will demand a raise before July of next year.

It's coming.

THE TRIBUNE SAID:
"The POA increased its participation in the election by raising member dues, with the increase going to the POA's PAC, according to POA president Brian Glick. The increase brought in a "significant" amount of money, Glick said, and the POA is considering making the increase permanent.

So let me get this straight. These guys were griping about how awful it was to contribute a little money for their medical like every other employee in the city did, but they still had an enough money to gouge their membership for dues.

Maybe these guys aren't as "hard up" as they want you to believe?

Mayor Andy said:

"I came from a union household and a lot of the benefits I received as a child - medical, dental, my dad had a good wage - were derived from the union. Maybe others had the same," he said. "And the community wants to see a community that creates good paying jobs that are sustainable."

Will the hefty taxes we pay to support $100,000 cops get spent in El Monte? or will it be spent in San Bernardino County or Orange County where most of these guys live?

How many law suits against the El Monte Police have been filed? There may not be any money left for big raises, or fat retirements.

How interesting--an El Monte mayor who lives in Redlands? Isn't that illegal? Poor El Monte, which is headed for more bad publicity, I fear.

"REAL CHANGE"? More like "really expensive change".

you don't think there might be something wrong for a candidate to live outside of the city?

If true that would be illegal and unethical especially if the candidate is a prosecutor.

Bring in the sheriffs Dept and get rid of the POA! This will free the city of this politacl machine that has kept us in handcuffs for years! Then we can a have a true election without any of their puppets in ofice. Nothing has changed, just the names of the puppets, smae speeches, same peomises, same o.

Why would anyone vote for council members or for a Mayor that doesn't even live in our City.Have you all lost your minds? You really think they are going to care about what goes on here, when they can just leave everynight and go home to their nice homes somewhere else. No wonder nothing ever changes in this town. I am begining to beleve that Bill is right, we might need to start a petition to make a change in Dept.s (POA) and stop this maddness!

For all the talk about "change", that will NOT happen until these two are actually SWORN IN! And that will happen, when? Did it happen the day after the election? No reports of when newly elected city officials are installed!

You making comments abou them not living in El Monte is no different that me saying you don't live in El Monte. The only proof we have that you live in EM is that you have an address that says EM and we see your vehicles in the city. Other than that - how do I know you live in the city? What PHYSICAL proof do you have that both Quintero and Macias do not live here? Suddenly if you ever visit another city, have a relative in another city, you live in that city? You have nothing except assumptions and accusations - which is all you ever have. Nothing substanative to offer. You really do need to get a clue, stop and ask why YOU were not successful in your bid(s) at elected office and stop whining. If you love this city so much and you want so much for the city, go to the council meetings and offer up clear and sound ideas - not non-sensical ramblings and perhaps then you will realize the changes you want. But to simply ramble on and make personal attack after personal attack just makes the outcome of the election even more just!

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Libra

It's Christmas Eve and you're running around like a scalded cat. However, it will do you no end of good if you can find a few moments here and there for some quiet contemplation. You might want to visit a place that's sacred to you, or take a walk in some beautiful surroundings so you can commune with nature. You need to feel that you're connecting with something bigger than yourself.
