I cannot believe that judge would not throw out such a lawsuit. If it does go to trial I hope I get a call from the squeeze-inn owner to testify. No ONE can get inside to order. When it is busy its best to go find a seat an wait. To think that this gal can sue what ever business, in these hard times just to cater to her is what make California a laughing stock of the nation. God bless the Owner and I hope more people give him support. Gotta go lunch now....Hmm wonder where I should go....

So this women will deny all the customers access to the restaurant forever? Nice.... Wonder why businesses are leaving California in droves?

I agree with both of the above posts, and I think it's tragic that such a wonderful place could be gone forever because of this woman's pursuit of money she didn't earn.
I am all for the rights of the disabled--WITHIN REASON!! Clearly, if she is in a wheelchair, her disabled status is observable with the naked eye, there is nothing to be "embarrassed or humiliated" about. So, use your brain and CALL AHEAD (here's the number 3 8 6 8 5 9 9)and tell the employess that you are in a wheelchair, place your order, and ask for it to be brought out to you. You can call when you arrive and they would have brought it out to her. I have been there before, and the employees are very wonderful and accomodating, I can't imagine that the employees or the owner would have had ANY issue bringing her food out to her. Perhaps her disability includes a lack of common sense? And the lawyers that keep filing these frivolous lawsuits need to start being held accountable for encouraging such crap. Grrrr.... |

Agreed. It is ridiculous and the lawyers should be stopped. |

A most hearty DITTO to the posts above.
I went to school with the Owner's daughter and spent many an evening squeezed in enjoying my cheese skirts. Jason Singleton should be stopped http://www.northcoastjournal.com/030801/cover... |

The woman who's suing is named Kimberly Block.
From News 10: http://www.news10.net/news/featured/story.asp ... "Federal court records show Block has filed similar ADA complaints against three other Sacramento businesses: Lil Joe's restaurant at 1710 Del Paso Blvd., Quick Market at 2839 Franklin Blvd., and the Market Basket at 3845 Marysville Blvd. The case against the Market Basket was dismissed this week following a confidential settlement. All four lawsuits were filed by the Singleton Law Group in Eureka, a firm with a reputation for being active in ADA litigation. Calls to the firm were not returned." |

I believe the proper term for this individual is professional victim.

I was thinking professional scam artist!! LOL, I think these businesses should find an attorney and find a way to press charges against her and her attorney, seems like entrapment and harrassment to me.... |

Just wanted to comment when I watched this story on tv the other day, a reporter tried to speak to the woman at her home. It was very noticeable to see that her home was not ADA compliant, no wheelchair ramp...Hmmm, looks like she is a con-artist and maybe this Eureka law firm should be investigated as well.

Individuals like her, ( sniffing out potential lawsuits everywhere)have always been around, but this kind of racket seems to really have become a cottage industry. Who's the bigger crook, her for doing this crap whenever she can, or law firms who are all too eager to kill a popular and successful business, for some $$$. Either way, it's a sad statement about our society as a whole.

I could not agree with you more, it isn't just the people that take advantage of the system that are the crooks, but those advising them of all of the loopholes and laws, and how to exploit the system are also guilty of being sleeze-bags. Especially, if as indicated by the above poster, the woman-crook-mooch-off-the-syst em-hag did not need the ramps and devices in her home, but expects them to be available to her when she goes out. Like I said earlier--Was her finger broken that she couldn't call inside and ask them to bring out her order??? This woman, and her dirt-bag lawyer make me sick. I hope Karma comes after them both in a big way. |

I am a contractor that has done work for Travis and we discussed this law suit last year when he got served.
We looked at many ways to fix most of the suit, but to have enlarged the dining area would have cost to much and takes away from what Squeeze Inn has been for many years. People like her is what hurts the Mom and Pop shops all around and put them out of business. Hoping that Travis finds a new location close by. Jim |
