Ahhh, finally, a bit of the green is now available in Vallejo!
"It's very busy there"... "That's not the type of activity we need in our town." Helllllllo?!! |

seems very compatible to all the "smoke shops" we already have. this would be a good issue for council members to weigh in on.
seems that even though no problems can be attributed to these sales tax generators, it does not pass the image test. bankrupt, high crime, low police city does?! |

Marijuana should be legal not only for medical patients but for adults who prefer to use it as a healthier alternative to alcohol.
Our current marijuana laws are impossible to enforce. Despite decades of marijuana eradication and despite arresting 800,000 people a year, pot is still easier to buy for most high school kids than beer. Keeping marijuana illegal does not benefit our children. It benefits special interest groups: drug cartels, the prison industry, police departments, and government bureaucracies. If you want marijuana to be legalized, taxed, and regulated for adults, YOU can make it happen. Tell your legislators to support California Assembly Bill 390. It's easy. Visit http://yes390.org |

the one on napa st has been in operation for months and they are extremely busy. i just do not understand how a business without a vallejo business license can operate. i am not sure if they even pay any sales taxes on their sales.
it is amazing to watch the cars and people it attracts. it sure does not look like many sick people going in there. as far as crime or any problems i can say that none of that has happened except that the place was broken into once when they first began to operate but they have better security now. about the only problems i have seen, or rather heard is the boom box speakers from the cars of their patrons blaring from time to time. |

This business actually fits right in for the City of Vallejo. This business will compliment all the other stores, like, the grow shop on Georgia at Sonoma, all the liquor stores downtown, all the smoke shops, the grifitti store, a very sympathetic councilwoman who lives in the downtown area. I am sure she supports all of these "nice" businesses. Why not? There is nothing else in Vallejo. Enjoy the new business and people that come with it. Not all are medical patients. I guarantee it.

i just like it! how does vib feel about this?

Hey, let's legalize it! But can't the government get a piece of the action? And if we say it's only legal for people with a serious medical condition to use, then why does everyone and their brother have a card saying they are ill? Lame. Call it what is and let the government profit off it's sales, just like alcohol and cigarettes.

Legalize the stuff and tax the hell out of it.

Why does Vallejo have to wait for the state to act?
The city should tax this liiegal business $thousands of dollars every month and if they don't pay they can go to court. That would be interesting. |

I live on Georgia St. and I watch my street slip further and further into the abyss. The drug dealers won the fight to move the Wednesday Night Celebration so it doesn't interrupt their business. Now we have their business move in doors. My land lord "thank God" cares about who she rents to, so I have pretty good neighbors. It is getting worse by the day. Can't wait to move.

Here's what I'd do and what I would want in my community:
1. non-profit. 2. cap salaries at 50k a year. 3. donate all profits, after operating costs, taxes and salaries to community fund for schools, parks, homeless, care-givers for terminally ill, etc. 4. Location would have to be professional similar to physician or pharmacy. 5. provide alternative medicine services: accupuncture, massage, counseling, etc. 6. provide free medical marijuana to terminally ill patients. 7. provide wheelchair access. |

1 For those of you who think this drug should be legalized, look at the DNA damage (amoung other things) that this drug does. For example: http://www.nida.nih.gov/infofacts/marijuana.h... We already have enough legalized drugs in our society that have created havoc - AA anybody? |

1 My guess, is that it needs to be made an actual legit process in Vallejo, and not run by born again drug dealers. In a nice comfortable environment. Hopefully soon, because every day we go without a proper club, is a sad day. |

ey how much a dubie cost? do the shops buy loads from people and then sell it??

Medical marijuana has nothing to do with the demise of Vallejo. NOTHING.

I'll put it this way
I wouldn't go downtown for anything, dispensary or no dispensary. I won't even drive down there. I'm nervous even doing business in the auto mall area. This city was crap WAY before this business got here. How would you explain the last 30 years or so? OK, remove the only dispensary in Solano county. Won't change a damn thing. Awfullness will still reign supreme and will flourish as usual. |

Want to bet three fourths of the people posting ont this thread smoke weed? Maybe not Shamus Gadfly who is a self-professed drunkard. This has nothing to do with Vallejo's problems so stop reaching..

Every business should operate under a license but the city does not have enough balls to go after them. They do not pay tax on the stuff as it is not regulated by the government. It is supposed to be brought in by 215 growers but often it is not and is supplied by blackmarket growers. Very expensive and much profit to be made. I don't know if it is the same outfit that was in operation over on Mini Dr. for awhile or not, but that one made picking up a pizza unnerving. At any time in the evening when I would go there, there woulod always be about 15-20 young males hanging out in the parking lot, smoking, talking, music blaring. BTY, none of them looked sick, just stoned. They would be smoking their supposed meds right out there on the lot. When you go to any other pharmacy you don't see people hanging out, car stereo's booming and using their meds in the parking lot, they usually go home. Much of this is b*llsh*t. I do have a friend that uses her 215 for her arthritis, swears it works when other meds did not (she never was a pot smoker before). Whatever, but I think the VPD and city are a joke on this one. |

This is ridiculous. If Vallejo doesn't allow it, then it needs to go. However, as a state, we've said it's legal for medical patients. I realize that there's a number of folks who get their i.d. cards through less than legal means, but it is in no way a reason to deny cancer/aids/migraine/pain patients medicine. If the businesses look shady, shut them down....there are ways to run safe medical access. Check out Harborside in Oakland. Clean...safe...wonderful. To the person who says most of the people don't look sick going into these places...what exactly qualifies a person to 'look sick'? Do they need a wheelchair? A missing leg? Open wounds? Many MANY people with cancer and other diseases that are chronic and debilitating do not look ill all of the time. If cannabis helps them, I'm all for it, so long as the crime rate around these places remains low. Now that Solano county is issuing i.d.cards, I think Vallejo ought to get in there and get some of the tax benefits if it isn't currently doing so.
