Calif. fiscal experts see late August as deadline

With so many hands in the pot, it is no wonder elected officials cannot make a flippin decision. Send the illegal aliens home and we will save billions in medical, welfare and prison expenses, but that would take leadership - something this state, nor country have right now.

So the world is going to come to an end again, where have I heard that before.

The Democrats in the State legislature just don't want to cut out some of the fat in the massive social welfare spending they have been doing for decades.

They would rather release the bad guys (their constituents) from prison to save money.

So this is what OUR tax dollars go towards.....

The longer this goes on, the worse it gets for all the nonprofit organizations that provide most of our state's human services under contract with the state and county governments. However much those contracts are going to be cut, and many WILL be cut, the amount of time left to absorb reduction shrinks every day.

It's time for the Republicans to accept that alcohol and tobacco taxes need to go up, as do taxes on oil drillers, if Californians are going to accept the devastation of their social safety net as part of the bargain. By refusing to use new revenue sources to go along with cuts, the Republicans are dooming the budget negotiations and making matters worse every single day.

Great respone! Give the politicians more money to squander, without expecting any accountability or fundamental change, at the state level. Simple answer to a complex question.
