Citrus Heights eyes panhandler ordinance

If people can't get food, clothing, shelter, legally, then they will get them illegally. Panhandling ordinances kick the poorest of Americans in the kidneys while they're down, so prosperous Americans won't be reminded that there are poor people among them them who don't have enough money for decent food, clothing, and shelter.

Yes, some spend it on drugs, but if you've ever been addicted to an opiate (such as Vicodan, Heroin, or Oxycontin, Rush Limbaugh's opiate of choice) you know that you cannot break the addicion without professional, medical intervention, and the cities and states do not supply enough of that to solve hte problem.

Homelessness, addiction, and poverty, exists because America, the most prosperous nation in history, continues to fail, year after year, decade after decade, to fix the problems.

Then, America passes panhandling laws to sweep the problems under the rug, out of sight, out of mind. This is America's greatest shame.

America says, Yes, we know you're poor! You're hungry! Maybe you're homeless or sick! But you can't ask for help in public places, it's unsightly! You poor people are such a nuisance!

hey raymond your a discrase to the human race...if one is in need you give...stop being such a scumbag and only caring about the way it looks and tnot the way it is effecting the individuals who have nothing.......youll be met up with by GOD and hopefully you'll learn a very big lesson on that

I hope this passes!! Panhandlers cheapen the city, giving everyone a bad taste in their mouth. Panhandlers cause citites to feel dirty and grimey. Lets clean up the streets removing the drug addicts/alcoholics/psychologic ally unfit. They degrade our city, significantly lowering the value of our homes and schools.

It is a RIGHT; and American right! to ASK for help!!!! You take away YOUR own rights when you try to block people from asking for help. The disabled are the new faces on the streets. They are NOT eligible for foodstamps although they Desparately need them! so it's either ask for help; or TAKE what you need. Of course there should be decency; not in front of store doors or approaching people in parking lots; i would not like that. But standing on the side of a road with a sign like a statue; is NOT a crime. Is'nt there any people left to remember the signs for rides; food gas. This is America!!! This is suppose to be the FREEDOM contry. You only take your own freedoms away when you try to SHUT PEOPLES MOUTHS ASKING FOR FOOD: AND HELP!
