Cops: Illegal pot is growing problem

There are multitudes of problems in CA.
This is just one.

Unlike other concerns, this one could be rendered impotent with a stroke of the pen. Make pot legal and tax it's sale.
Remove the criminal element and the problem will no longer have a reason to exist.
I will never believe that society is well-served by the so-called 'drug war'--an abysmal failure, wasting law-enforcement resources better served to patrols and prevention.
Instead, we blow millions each year on a bogus 'war' that simply cannot be won, which only gets worse in the needless expenditure of dollars and man hours. Dollars and hours better spent in prosecuting domestic abuse cases, fraud, burglaries, homicides, and on and on.
We left Vietnam because it was a lost cause and drained the resources of our country to an unprecedented degree, and until Iraq, we managed not to repeat the mistake. Yet, we can't admit that the drug war was a mistake from the get go--after all, it's started almost a century ago, and has only worsened exponentially.
