Have you seen (felt) the speed bump on west Main near Lindell street? I did notice it is in front of an alderman's house.... There is no need to start this crap. You know people will start driving through yards to go around them. This is an absolute waste of money. Did the city approve this? Why not have the police use radar in the area? Next, a speed bump will be on every street.

Never mind. I know where it is. Are you sure that isn't just bad road extension?

If that is the case, then I am going to raise some heck. I've been before the city council to ask for speed bumps to be installed around one of the parks in the city. I was refused, citing liability concerns.

The speed bump was installed because people SPEED in that area. Citizens who live in the area requested one. The city council's job is to pass ordinances and set budgets, not micromanage public works and police business like the issue of speed bumps. Presumably, the complainers are the speeders.

Actually speed bumps have been shown not to do what they are designed to do very well. It has been in the past the position of the city of El Dorado to not put in speed bumps. If this is a change in that policy it isn't a good thing. We will have the damn things all over town. If they want to slow down traffic there they should use a method that works and doesn't have a history of damaging cars that aren't speeding.

All you have to do is slow down a little before you go over it and it does no harm. I have been over it several times unscathed.

Then what in the world would he have to bio+ch about on this forum about? Geeze. He's old and doesn't have anything else to write about- cut him some slack.

Here's what everyone needs to do to put an end to this. Every time you drive over the speed bump honk your horn. Tell your freinds, tell your neighbors.

Good idea about the honking everytime you go over it. The key issue is that it was done as patronage to a favored few. Indeed if speedbumps were going to be used - they certainly should be done for true public safety - where pedestrians (especially) children are often around - Parks, School Zones, and the like. It should not be used to pacify someone who wishes others who use the public street would slow down around his/her house because it irratates them. Lets pull up the concrete if they don't like the rest of us citizen taxpayers using 'their" streets. I like the mayor a lot - but this was a huge blunder and smacks of the one of the worst things in this town's government - patronage not service.

Didn't they try putting up those warning thingies on 19th, in front of the apartments? Wasn't a speedbump, but some reflective marker type things. Put them up because the little old lady ran the stop sign and got creamed by a log truck or something? Remember that? Then the citizens of the apartments started complaining because of the noise it made when someone ran over them? So the city tore them back out due to the complaints. So the horn honking will either get a speed bump removed or cause a cop to camp there to write tix for disturbing the peace with your horn.

Bumb the bump thread. Honk and wave at Judy Ward every time you hit the speed bump. I would suggest doing it as you go home from the late show at Stars this weekend.

I think the speed bump works rather well. There were far too many speeders on that road before the bump was installed. Most of you people don't have any place important to get to anyway.

Instead of speed bumps they should install dukes of hazard ramps. That way we speeders can continue to speed and not affect ground operations (especially if you're rockin 1969 Dodge Charger with a rebel flag on the roof).

Olive_Oyl, I'm sure your shocks have taken enough punishment hauling you around. Speed bumbs will kill them off. EVERYONE, Honk when you go over the speed bumps.

If you don't like the speed bump, go down another street.
