Hartsell Pest Control, contractor to handle dog control for the city, has been suspended after shooting a dog and killing it Monday afternoon. An investigation has been ordered into the shooting by the Mayor. Investigation? B. S.. After this "Investigation" Hartsell will be reinstated. Cooling off period, let the smoke clear, sweep the dirt under the rug. Hartsell is to convenient for this city government to get rid of. This "Investigaion" has ONE (1) sole purpose to clear the City of wrong doing. At the end of the "Investigation" there will be rule changing, warnings, hot air in general. BUT. Watch and see.

Maybe he had a reason to shoot it? What kind of dog?

Someone should euthanize or shoot that El Dorado freak posting as All The Same. He is just a biatch in heat for me.

I think Hartsell should be taken off everyone's pest control list if this is his method of taking care of business. I am encouraging others not to use Hartsell services. No public apologies corrects this mistake.

I am a neigbor of mr gilmore who owns the dog, he has a chow and a beagle mix, neither are mean dogs!! And if the people on harold ellen offered to house the dog until mr. Gilmore returned home i dont understand why hartsell shot it. I thought we had a city pound for situations like this, mr gilmore may have had to pay a dog at large fine but at least his dog would be alive!!!!! So i also.say don't use hartsell pest control¡! This time the city needs to hire a dog CATCHER NOT A DG KILLER

Dog catcher kills dog.... and the El Dorado Good Ole Boys will make sure nothing comes of it. Whoever did this should be fired.

Not the first time this has happened around here either. Several other incidents have happened over the years, one involved a local doctor whose dog was shot by a police officer, with witnesses saying it was unprovoked. The doctor didn't want anyone to get fired, so he didn't pursue. I admire his kindness, but if it was my dog I would have sued and made sure that cop never worked as an officer again.

Some cops and city officials are trigger happy dumb asses who are angry at the world and quick to violence.

Something like this happens in a small town, the good ole boys cover it up. This happens in a larger, less corrupt town - people throw a fit, awareness gets raised and retribution is demanded.

When are people going to wake up and realize this town is a dying, corrupted, elitist crap hole?

I agree. Whatever P.O.S shot that dog will be back to work in no time. Like all the other city officials (cops) that have done the same in the past, unnecessarily. Plenty of you agree, but you still won't call this town corrupt? Wtf?

The address in the paper puts the shooting in the habitat of The El Dorado Feral Chicken specie. Was the dog interfering with Hartsell luring the feral chickens into an ambush? Did one of the non owners of the chickens call Animal Control because the dog was harassing their decorative yard birds?

All of the above.

It really comes down to the owner taking responsibility for their pet. If you have a breed of a dog that's known for its hostility then you should be prepared for the consequences. In other words, you should take care of your dog or find someone else who can.
