Blasco Library to close on Sundays

Sunday hours will soon be a thing of the past at Blasco Library. Erie County Executive Mark DiVecchio said Thursday that his administration plans to close the county's main library on Sundays -- one of the facility's busiest days -- as a cost-cutting move.

Why Sunday? According to the graph, Thursday is the least busy day by items checked out per hour. They should close 4 hours Thursday, or maybe open 2 hours late and close 2 hours early. If employees' hours were budgeted right, no OT would be necessary.

Sunday is one of two weekend days families have to use the library. As the article stated Sunday is the libraries busiest day. Knowing this it is obvious that more families use the library on sunday.(the weekend in general)Lets take away family interaction. makes sense to me! Another genius idea brought to you by Mark Divecchio.

People were beginning to become informed so they have to limit access to the libraries. What if they knew what was going on? Bush and Cheney could not run and hide from all of the people who would want their hides.

More than likely, it's written into the union contracts, that if they work on Sunday, they automatically get overtime pay. More than likely doesn't matter if they had 40 hrs or not.

PA has a terrible track record when it comes to funding libraries. It's not the libraries fault if they can't do what the community wants with the extremely-limited resources they are allocated.

Why is the library being closed on Sunday - the day it gets the heaviest traffic? Who picked this day - it doesn't make sense.

It doesn't make sense that County Council voted themselves and Divecchio a pay raise back on February 10th !
