Rincon peering into tourism opportunities

Full story: Effingham Herald

Could Rincon become the site for the next Keller's type flea market? How about a home for a couple of museums or maybe a picnic site on the River? Those are just a few of the possibilities being studied now for birthing a tourism trade for Rincon and perhaps the county.

What a joke! You want to bring business to Rincon? Look at the way Rincon deals with the present business owners. Lure them in, tax them to death and above all make sure City Hall does everything it can to make it hard on then and run them into the poor house

Flea market? Are there enough Illegal Aliens in Rincon to fill all the sales booths to make it profitable or will we have to import some?

We have how many actual sit down restaurants for tourists? Oh that's right, we might as well be a dry city, and most real restaurants don't want to play ball with a city that can't set up decent alcohol regulations. They also don't want to be taxed to death.

Let's also not forget the wannabe jackboot thugs we call cops around here. Sure, lets tax the tourists by letting them get pulled over and issued citations.

But a flea market? Yup, let's bring in some more low brow types into the city and see how that helps things out. In the end, Rincon will strangle out any chance it has at growing so long as we have the current slate of Governmental ne're do wells. Corruption is not usually something that will draw tourists.

I think a flea market would be a horrible idea. We visited the flea market in savannah once and left minutes after arriving - filthy people practically get right on top of you while walking. It was plain disgusting. Will never go back. I want tourists to stay in Savannah! Going down there on the weekends or events is not my source of fun. Have you seen tourists lately?
