When will we be able to be proud to say that we live in Eccles or Allentown again? What in the heck happened? Sad. Very Sad.

I'll tell you what happened...pills, pills, and more pills! Plain and simple :)

Im not just talking about the people, I am talking about even the way the houses look, trash in the yards, broken down cars, dogs tied to 2 ft chains and broken down dog houses, and just the general overall look.

And you never hear of anyone visiting anyone else. Or neighbors coming together to help another neighbor.

Just makes you wonder if God has left every home.(well not left... been pushed away)

You know God dont leave us, we leave Him, But one thing for sure you told the truth when you said He has been pushed away.and some of the people in Eccles wouldnt pee in your tail if your guts was on fire.Plain and true,ive lived here for sometime now,I keep to myself mind my own business.And what people are not trying to out do each other, they think they are better than you are.Hey, how much better are you than me? Hey wake up people we all live in a coal camp here, whats not on checks are just making it on what they work for, So who are you to stick your nose up at anyone.Yes Allentown needs cleaned up and neighbors are afraid to visit because of so much gossip. It didnt used to be this way but like you said God is not in the homes any more!

My kids used to be able to go out in the mornings and ride bikes, race around the block, in the summer they loved getting flashlights and just walk around. There were nights when you would see 15 to 20 of them playing spot light or foot ball in Frank Stevens old yard. Now, the mothers wont even let them out of the yard.
Rumors, Gossip, or maybe even truth has scared us all to death. The safety of my kids is the most important thing to me. And it just saddens me that due to child molesters, pill pushers, bullies, and theives... I have to keep my kids in the yard or even inside.

I wish that we could call a meeting, start a neighborhood crime watch, and get this town back in order. We should have activities for the kids and parents. Nothing like "card night", sleigh riding for the kids followed my hot cocoa, or even Sunday Night FootBall.

So, who is with me? All it would take would be for a couple of us to get together... get one of our neighbors to get one of thier neighbors... to get one of thiers and so on and so on.... And fix this place. Lets put Allentown back on the map.

I want to go to my Dr Appt or one of the schools events or even Walmart and be proud to tell someone that I am from ECCLES!!!:)

I sure would be with you but it wouldnt work. People are just not like they used to be,On this hill they want to fight and argue its their past time and im afraid to trust people up here to many back biters.He said She said, so back to square one!Times has changed and people just dont want to get along. Back years ago it would have worked, but not now, it would take the Good Lord to move in peoples heart, and just like I said HE has left Hes not in the homes any more or it would work!or most of the homes I should say.

you know it is sad that the sate road wont even come up here and pave the hill . When houses are burnt down up here the mess is just left to be a sore eye to the neighbors. Cant anyone clean up anymore? I am with you Loud and Proud, I want to be able to say that I am from here also! Allentown has become a shame ! we have nothing but drug dealers, drug users, theifs, liars, gossipers, cheaters,whores,child molesters, drunks, wife beaters, and the famous proud people who think the own the hill just because they went in debt to outdo the other neighbor. It is sad. Allentown use to be one of the best neighborhoods to live in and now its a disgrace! I hate to think that i have to raise my children up on this hill becuase noone wants to buy a house up here because of the hills reputation. I am all for getting this hill back together, but i know that isnt possible! There are just a few good ones up here and they are all ready to leave cause its so bad !

The state road just patched up here not long ago, right after school started, and they never did a whole lot up here anyway. I've lived here my whole life and I have never seen them do very much. Everybody up here isn't on drugs, thieves, or in every body's business. It's no wonder everybody thinks the way they do about us, listen at the way y'all are talking about everybody. I know there are a lot of people on drugs up here but, drugs are everywhere you go. Not just Allentown or Eccles in general. You can call the county commission about the burnt houses they will get them cleaned up (eventually). You really don't HAVE to keep your kids in the yard all the time, my kids go out and play, other kids are out playing Btw I am not a drug dealer, drunk, wife beater or a whore,I'm not ON drugs either. My parents work every day my husband and I work every day too.

And also , I know there are drugs everywhere you go , but this place is rediculous . Got strange people coming in and out of this place like its a freakin resturaunt. Its not a great enviroment to live in . Especially for children .

i have dogs but not on changes and my yard is mowed and cleaned and i have live on this hill for a very long time. maybe we need to start taken back our town i dont drink or drug but i know its on the hill. but its every where and maybe we should have a watch and start call the police when we see the drug dealers
and when car pull up and buy drugs and they dont belong on the hill let me know

My eyes are open, I saw the state road up here patching the road. Apparently you didn't, since you said they never come up here. I know this place isn't what it used to be, never said it was. I said it's not as bad as you say. But then again all my neighbors work. I know there is drugs on this hill too, I also know that everybody that lives here is not on drugs. You want to put everybody here in the same group (pillheads). I guess you live closer to the Purity Hill side of Allentown, that side has gone way down over the years, with the trashy places and drugs. I'm NOT saying that drugs aren't ALL over the hill, it just seems like more on that side. That DOESN'T mean that EVERYBODY on that side is on drugs. Part of the reason this isn't a community anymore is people judging others all the time. It may not be a 'community' anymore but it's not necessarily a hazard zone either. Exactly where is a good place to raise your kids now? Like I said drugs are everywhere, child molesters are too. Btw the KNOWN child molester has moved, the known ones seem to be the ones everybody worries about. Nobody ever worries about the ones that aren't registered, They're the one that hasn't been caught yet, do you know who they are? They are everywhere too. My in-laws live in a community in Beckley that was one of the best there was when they were raising their kids now drugs are all around them, as a matter-of-fact it's worse than here.
