The Amish do not bother anyone, yet you so often hear nasty comments about their way of life. We should be more like them- they are so self-sufficient- and as far as I'm concerned, I'd rather have an Amish person's poop in my yard than have my crazy a** neighbor's car in front of my house!

Let's start a 'Free the Amish" movement. Declare there land a soverign nation just like many Native American Reservations are. If people fight it lets buy the land from the Amish, give it to a local native American tribe, allow them to annex it as a soverign nation of their's and then Give it to the Amish people!

Don't that beat all?? Here we are getting all sorts of fecally contaminated fruits and vegetables from "south of the border" and no one says a peep (G-d forbid we nix NAFTA), but when an upstanding Christian American community with established traditions and a method for safely disposing the waste follows it's conscience, then we prosecute them! I'm a Catholic, but "Long live the Amish" on this one.

The government harassing these folks is the same one that allows the use of biosolids on farmers fields and say it's safe. I cannot go outside for days after that crap (no pun intended) is spread anywhere within a couple of miles of my home.
Leave the Amish alone.
