of the things being done? of all the crimes? I dont get it. I would think Easton could have legal troubles on the one.. if being a john or a pros is so bad , go to the state and have the crime upgraded to a felony... change the law... i dont understand why there is a big deal made about pros anyway. what next take the guys house if he takes her home? or take the landlords house if he knows she is a pros and user her house for that... What about the bar pigs who hustle in bars? what if they pick the pros up in p burg and bring her into to easton... what about if they scatter to wilson. this ordinance is bizzare...

What good is a law when not fully not enforced?
I'd like to know the reason for the ten year deficit? |

"Councilman Roger Ruggles pointed out state law already allows police to seize vehicles used in drug deals.''I don't see much of a difference,'' he said."
Stupid, stupid Roger. Authorities seize vehicles and other property from drug dealers because they bought such properties with drug money. Idiot. |

If some guy drives his new Eastonian girlfriend to New York City for dinner and a show (which is certainly more expensive than any prostitute in Easton), and after the show she sleeps with him, will his car be confiscated?
These prostitution laws are just silly. |

It shows you what kind of morons run the city of Easton. This will result in lawsuits that the taxpayers will have to suffer for. I just can't believe how incredibly stipid these people on Council are. Pathetic.
If you want to "clean up" the prostitution "problem," here is the solution: Designate a s,all region within the city (or one single block) where prostitution is decriminalized. Allow for a house of prostitution (or more) to open legally. Have the owners be a legit person (not a gangster or a drug dealer). Have the girls and the building checked once per week to ensure cleanliness and health. Have the girls organize into a union. The business and the girls will pay taxes. Think this is stupid? Well, that's what they do in Amsterdam and it works great. We are living in the dark ages. Just look at Easton city government: A bunch of Neanderthals. |
|
This will create many lawsuits and end up costing Easton in the longrun. As the article states, it has been shot down in many cities throughout the country. Arrest the John and fine him/her. Give the john the penalty of jail time or a fine.

So, let me get this right... if a man uses his car and goes and picks up a women where money exchanges hands then he runs the risk of having his car taken? That the way the law is written.
Using that logic our current Mayor would be walking the streets, rather than driving them. During his first term he was having an affair with his now current portly princess wife over on Jackson Street, while her husband worked up at Lafayette College. Is the Mayor going to voluntarily give up his car? |

The mayor is an idiot. His wife is worse.

Why must we always have these POS in our political parties in leadership roles for our children to emulate? Billy boy, spitzer, mcgreevey, panto, and then they will take away the car of a john who can't afford to pay a 'skirt' a few thousand or give them a position on the council or some other job.Justice stinks in this Commonwealth. By the way, can we take away the cars of our legislators for all the shafting us or do we have to give up our cars because we pay them(taxes)?

Just legalize prostitution and tax the prostitutes. A great source of income for the city.

The lawsuits will fly on this one! This ordinance, completely illegal, will cost the taxpayers plenty.

Wow, not a good time to be named John and living in Easton. I'm changing my name to Mike.

This law makes no sense on any level. What do you do when the car is a rental, belongs to an employer (can't wait until a city owned car or one by the county is confiscated)? How about a wifes car? Biggest group is that most people are making payments on the car and the bank owns the car. What bank is going to OK it being confiscated?
OK, so Jo from Quadrant is complaining about the hookers again. It doesn't even hurt her business. The purple haired old ladies that complain about them, still come in the Quadrant, so what is she constantly complaining about. I have never seen a shop owner complain about the city she has a shop in so much as her. Can't City Council really do something worthwhile rather than these "headline grabbing", "do nothing" laws. Between this one and the kids not allowed in the parks, we look ridiculous. Other cities are striving for excellance and Easton wallows in self pity and nuisance laws. Get a life people. |

What if you are walking around town looking for a prostitute, do they seize your shoes?

I have to agree with most of you that this proposal is sheer idiocy. Elinor Warner states the absudity of the law herself by suggesting that it will 'scare johns' into other communities. It does nothing to solve the perceived problem, it only moves it to another area. Yet, this is the same complaint that the same city council addresses when it talks about New York and New Jersey, that each of them attempt to export their problems on Easton. The council should practice some of what it preaches. This proposal along with the other summer folly of the kids in the parks does nothing but move perceived problems to other areas and does nothing to solve them. We need a city council that is a problem solver, not a problem relocater |

North 8th street and would avenue, N7th and wood ave, N7th and northampton street, 13th st and wood ave, N8th wood ave is also a busy corner to buy drugs and apparently a great place to pick up "your lady" and drive up to the park or get back on 22 very convenient .
