A question of authority in Easton

If my math is fuzzy, it's no fuzzier than that of Barach Obama's and Hillary Clinton's, though as an Independent candidate for Bob Freeman's 136th legislative district seat I prefer the electoral-college math of Billary
And now with the entrance of Ralph Nader and Bob Bart as Independent contestants in the race for President, added to he candidacies of republican nominee-apparent John Mccain and Libertarian Ron Paul, the math is likely to get even fuzzier before the race for the two Presidential nominees is finally decided. Meanwhile, I view the race (no pun intended) between Obama and Billary as rooted less in race determined by genes than in the national misogyny determined by nature's differentiation, also purely accidental, of the chromosomes. |

Billy, why don't you get a job so you can stop writing stupid comments! |

Panto's Director of Planning and Executive Director of the Easton Redevelopment Authority (and also Secretary to the equally corrupt Easton Zoning Hearing Board whose Chairman James Edinger is also Chairman of the Easton Democratic Party Committee)Robert O'Neil remained in those positions in Panto's successor administrations of Tom Goldsmith and Mike McFadden.
(O'Neil was also President of the South Side Neighborhood Association that spawned Sandy (Ms. Cabbage Patch Doll" Vulcano and doll-sized mate Pat Vulcano Jr.) Easton's powers-that-be kept O'Neil on-board long enough to approve all the zoning applications and buiding permits for the Northampton courthouse and prison (adult and juvenile)expansions and construction of the archtecturally intrusive Children, Family, and Youth(Domestic Relations)between S. Union and S. 6th streets in the ethnic neighborhood of Dutchtown-Gallows Hill - all financed with funds from the illegal $111 million megabond of 2001 floated by Northampton County's fraudulent General Purpose Authority,$67 million of which were subsequently refinanced by the risky, re-investment instrument known as a swaption, a dangerous tool that public and private corporations called parties and counter-parties enter into contract that swap interest rates with the option of either party to the contractural agreement to call. |

or, better yet a talk show on a certain AM radio station. |
|
radical moderate,
In fact, I had a talk show once for a brief stint until I was fired. The station was WEEX-AM atop College Hill in Forks Township. The powers that be persuaded my Saturday morning show's sponsor to let me go. They silenced me because I would quote from the Management Action Plan (MAP) for the Delaware and Lehigh National Historic Corridor. My show exposed how Northampton County Executive Bill Brackbill, a Republican, and a fellow Republican Tom Goldsmith, Mayor of the county's seat of Easton, hijacked the funds Congress appropriated for the construction of nine landings along the 150 mile-long corridor and deflected thos federal funds to create the Two Rivers Landing in the southwest quadrant of Centre Square in downtown Easton. This is the quadrant that includes the nine-story Alpha Building housing Easton's City Hall, Bixlers Jewelers, the D&LNHC and Hugh Moore Park Museum, and the Crayola Factory and Crayola Store of the Hallmark Cards Corporation and its subsidiary Binney & Smith. |
|
|
When I opposed the creation of Two Rivers Landing, when Goldsmith was Mayor and Stu Gallaher his assistant business manager under manager Mike McFadden, at a city council meeting, I was arrested and WFMZ-69 who dispatched a reporter/cameraman to the meeting destroyed the video of the arrest and the intimidation of the reporter/camera operator by Easton Police Officer John Nunez dressed in plain clothes.
Before handcuffing me, Nunez flashed his badge at the WFMZ-69 reporter and ordered him to turn off the camera. The arrest took place before Mayor Goldsmith and four council members (Councilwoman Barbara Groner was absent because of the illness of her husband John), all of whom signed the complaint against AFTER MY ARREST and before the eyes of Bixler Jewelers' partner Phil Mitman and his wife Toni, the Executive Director of Historic Easton, Inc. The arrest also occurred before the eyes of Easton's Director of Safety and former Chief of Police, Alvin "Skip" Fairchild, who, at the end of his job with the city, found a position as the head of security at the Lehigh Valley International Airport. |

|
It's a well-known fact by my Easton neighbors that I have been arrested and/or removed from numerous public meetings for exercising my First Amendment right of free speech.

Maybe a little long winded, but Billy is right on every comment he made on this issue. Sal and his 'current' wife are acting like the Emporer of Easton. He should not be mayor and she should not be on city council while he is mayor. It is a huge power grab. Where are all the people who helped develop this new charter, they are oddly silent on this issue. Specifically Rep Bob Freeman, who for years has been a great politician, but sold us down the river on this one. |
|
Wow Givens give it a break and you should get the facts on your friend Ms. Riley and her antics at the center. You don't know the issues yet you speak from some position of alledged authority as if you are all knowing. Ms. Riley almost shut their doors and I won't say anymore because I wouldn't do it publicly.
As for Panto he served this center very well giving of hundreds of hours of his time for kids. what have you done to help change this city???????? |

I am absolutely seething after reading the story. The arrogance of this man who has determined he is the new law in town and pretty much has just told city council to "f" off he is going to do what he wants to do.
Add to that he has Pam appointed to the council which now gives him two votes there. He appoints himself City Administrator etc etc etc I am seriously looking into what does it take to impeach the mayor of Easton. I have started looking here online, but if any of you know how that is done, please educate the rest of us. I AM 100% SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. HE HAS GOT TO BE REMOVED. |
|
Don't listen to these people Sal, the city has never been better. I am proud to say I lived in Easton now. You have some tough decisions to make and I believe you are the man for the job.
In my business I wouldn't think of getting rid of a staff member like Gallaher. I serve on one of the Authorities and he is a real worker and knows the city business well. I know you demoted him but you had the smarts to keep him. Hopefully the members of City Council will see fit to do the same. And the individual you replaced him with seems to be well-qualified which you campaigned on. These naysayers are forgetting that maybe if Stu had a Mayor who was as dedicated as you and spends the hundreds of hours you he wouldn't have even been demoted. Heck, he was doing three or four jobs under the former Administration. |

How easy to cast stones based on a news story. Impeach Panto? That has to be the biggest mistake stated here. I moved here 6 years ago and this is the first Mayor I have confidence in to get our city clean and safe. He makes well-thought out decisions and is an excellent spokesman for Easton. Although I live in the West Ward I find his fight on crime to be the best yet. I support his efforts to hire more police officers.
As for the Council members who decried this individual - how many times have you met with him in the last four months? How many times have you discussed what he does? Have you talked to his staff to see what they think. Before casting stones you should talk to them. I know one of them and she asked Sal to keep Stu as BA - she says he does a good job and works long hours. |

|
Stu is one of the BIGGEST problem makers that Easton has and had. If people only knew the truth of all his dirty doings and secrets! Now savior Panto is going to retain him??????? What dirt does he have on Panto...one wonders!?????? So much for the change in the City.....as always...Easton is a joke that will never change.

OK, for starters the Easton resident and Palmer resident in comments #32-33 are obviously the same person.
Who does this pompous, fat, bald, divorced, guinny think he is? He is like the Mafia boss that just moved to a new territory? Crap, he dumps his first wife during his first term, leaves office only to return with a new wife and a boat load more power. Then he appoints himself the City Administrator. What was the committee that created this fiasco thinking when they allowed that to happen. Now Don Panto and his beast of wife think they run the place. She was quoted more than once as saying she didn't want to be on City Council anymore (which is good, as she is horrible at it) Then when her current main squeeze becomes mayor she gets herself appointed to the same City Council he is President of... what a joke and laughing stock this makes us look like in Easton. Tell these two sacks of crap to take a hike off the edge of the Deleware. They will be OK, like what they are full of... PANTO FLOATS ! |
|
Easton's voters can - and must - hoist the angelic-, fresh-faced Bob Freeman and Sal Panto on the very petard of their own making, Easton's new city charter - Panto by the the process of recall, the one provision of the charter that puts power other than the vote in the hands of the people; and Freeman through the process of vote itself in November's general election.

Exactly... I have known Bob Freeman for years. I have always supported him, always liked his voting record.
This thing has made me lose all respect for him. He is smarter than this. Least I thought he was. Guess I was wrong. He chaired the committee that let this happen and I haven't seen or heard a peep out of him over it. |

Nobody seems to get the picture of whats being painted all across this country, people of tired of the same old goverment power mongers repeating the same song each and every election, on the local level to the federal level. choices in elections are narrow. how often do you hear the term "less of two evils" when its time to vote. this country needs a stiff injection good old fashion leadership that will work for the people and not themself or there cronies hiding in the wings.
Sal is a power hungry man, he sat back and waited for the change of goverment knowing full well it would be his chance to sit in the kings chair, this move proves my statement. Stu is nothing more that a back stage wanna be who happens to be smart in powers of goverment and how it all works. All of these people are for themself and not you the tax paying working man. We the people of Easton had the chance to put a man in office who would have run this city for the better of Easton and he lost the election. many people are seeing the mistake but to late now the real Sal is sitting in the golden kings chair for the next four years and has all the pawns sitting around him. |
|
|
Wow! Wasn't it Panto who said he thought for sure the charter wouldn't be approved? You make it sound like he made the people vote for the charter. I personally know that he voted on the Charter Commission to retain the strong Mayor form of government. As for the ethnic slurs you are dispicable and I am offended by your remarks.
As for me, I think Sal is not only doing a good job but he is also showing his smarts. He demotes the person that is the old guard, brings in the new face with all of the credentials and builds a team that not only has a new vision but retains individuals that know the history during this transition. How many members of Council can walk in and take Stu's place? Heck with all of the degrees and capabilities the new guy has he still needs to know what the status is before he can make recommendations on the changes that are needed. Duh? But I wouldn't want to confuse you all and Billy with the facts. Nor would I expect you to understand good manage ment practices. Stu has the working knowlege. The Mayor realizes that so he demotes him but keeps him for his history. I am sure the Mayor will be taking recommendations from the new guy - not Stu. |
|

and Billy, no one takes your candidacy for any elected position seriously. Heck the Latino Leadership had a candidates night tonight in Easton and Freeman and Shegda were there I here but someone told me you weren't there.
