Why do we have to spend this kind of money on health care for jail inmates?Lot of people who work hard, obey the law and pay their taxes have trouble getting health care and we have to spend this kind of money on jail inmates.I think it is ridiculous.

It's about human rights and the treatment of other human beings.

Did you know that the only place in the U.S. that you are guaranteed health care is in prison?

It is rather ridiculous to a point. Just think of it this way, you have serious health problems, and you are wrongfully placed in jail awaiting trial. If you don't have the funds, you won't get the proper medications.

But by using the same analogy that you have, there are plenty of hard working people that pay their dues and still don't have enough money to eat. Should we also take away food for inmates?

I'm not completely disagreeing with you at all. However, there are different variables that must be considered. Not all people placed in jail are criminals. Remember, a jail is a place to house those who are suspected of committing crimes and are awaiting trial, hearings. Although the jail does house a few convicted criminals over misdemeanor items, etc.

The only issue that I have with the health care for jail inmates is that it will be corrupt. I know the state does a good job at controlling a lot of corruption within the health care that they provide, but there are cases where hospitals feel they need to charge whatever the want, and the state won't question it.

This type of corruption will be even worse for a jail. I think it would be alright for previsions to be made stating certain circumstances. Because remember, if these jail inmates do not have health care, and something happens and they are rushed to the hospital, taxpayers will pay for that bill anyways.

It's better to have a little insurance for the taxpayers, than to have none and end up costing everyone dearly.

This is just stupid - i've worked my butt off my whole life, & managed to stay out of jail - & i still can't get ALL the medical care & NONE of the dental care that i despretaly NEED! If criminals are going to get better health care than us - ARREST ME!!

Now i'm not completely heartless or nothing, i DO realize that inmates get sick & hurt just the same as the rest of us! But there HAS to be a better CHEAPER way to deal with it! There are alot of Doctors in jails too right?, well spread them out & put

them to work! Put them all to work for that matter (they were able-bodied enough to break the law ; dodge child support ; or whatever they're there for - so let them all work for a change) this will cut down on the price -right? Letting them ALL work

would cut down on costs all around - wouldn't it? I don't mean picking up trash, i mean whatever needs done in the jail (it SHOULD go without saying - EXCEPT being guards), and even city/county/state/federal jobs like digging ditches, busting/crushing

rocks, & paving roads (just like the old days) would cut down on lots of costs, as well as turning useless inmates into usefull workers)! And before anyone starts jumping on me about the already bad shortage of jobs - thats an easy fix - QUIT LETTING ALL

OF OUR JOBS GO TO OTHER COUNTRIES! It doesn't matter if it'sfor Tax Breaks, Import/Export Relations, OR JUST TO MAKE MORE MONEY - STOP SENDING OUR JOBS AWAY! It's just COMMAN SENSE - if the U.S. has no jobs then WE have absolutely NOTHING!! Well that's

I can't believe you people would advocate locking people up, and then letting them die in lieu of giving them treatment. Some of these people are just in there for smoking pot (and subsequently not paying their fines). That isn't punishable by death - but that's what you're doing if you lock up a diabetic and then deny him insulin because the county doesn't want to pay for it.

If you don't want to pay for the healthcare - don't lock'em up. But some of them really need to be locked up. So let's just pay for it. That $100k a year proposal sounds pretty good. It will probably prevent a lot of lawsuits too.

I am not taking up for the inmates, but just because you have been incarcerated dosen't mean you should be denied health care. I'm sure a lot of people would feel different if it was a member of their family in there. We are all human beings that GOD created. I work hard for my money and my health care benefits, but i have human empathy for people also.

My sister was badly injured in that jail because of no health care . who ever you are Joe I would realy rethink my opinion you might end up out there and get sick too it can happen to anyone god gave man knowledge to be doctors for a reason. if u realy feel that way god just might show u what it is like and its probably far worse than u can imagine. Jesus Loves us all and expects us to love everyone the same as he. When u wish death upon another human it is the same as murder in his eyes. If the sheriff succeeds He will regaine my vote.
