I live near Thorndike and have always been interested in True Crime and Murder Mysteries. To find this book about Maine Ax Murders and John True Gordon being hung on the Maine State Prison Gallows with Maine's most notorious murderer Louis Wagner is almost unbelievable, it truly staggers the mind. Not having ever heard of the account before, it makes me wonder how many others realize the tragedy that happened in our midst? Return to Smuttynose Island and other Maine Axe Murders should be brought to the attention of the people of Thorndike.
