East Northport building new fire substation

Oh great a new place to drink beer, watch porn and have gay s*x. Where do I sign up! Please, can anyone save us from these losers?

THe fire dept is one of a few services that actually we get something out of it when you need it most. Fire departments have trouble recruiting volunteers because it is a demanding commitment to be on call, pull drunkin idiots off of trees and out of ditches and also pulling broken bodies out of wrecks, so if they want me they need the beer and porn! The gay sex is over in the Huntngton public safety office!

Roger that. 100,000 a year on cops that dont even write tickets for illegals, and people gonna bitch about the Firehouse....

As a member of the ENFD, I can tell you there's no porn in the firehouse. I don't really give a rat's ass if anyone believes me, but there are women in our department and we respect them. You're more then welcome to join the department and see for yourself. As for beer? Sure, but only for those 21+. Strictly enforced. Again, we welcome anyone who wants to join to come see and learn our policies for themselves.

As for "circle jerk": why not reveal your address so I can advise your local dept. of your support. This way, when you need them (everyone eventually does), they'll be sure to get to your house (apt.?) in a jiffy!

I have no objection to the Fire Department spending money to make things go more efficiently. But the Clay Pits annex isn't very far from the main fire house. As someone that lives north of the RR tracks, I'm much more concerned with the fire department being able to get to me when there is a train at the Station. I've talked to several members of the fire department that told me that many of the fire department members feel the same, but the "important" people that make the decisions like upgrading the Clay Pits annex live south of the tracks and are more concerned with their own area.
The fire department already owns property on Laurel Ave. I (and the firemen I talked to) would have rather seen money put into making this a usable facility. I know it's small, but at least it's something, and something would make me feel much better about having the ENFD get to my house in a reasonable amount of time. Or sell the property to get money to do something constructive with.
How about taking the tax money that goes to the ENFD from us north of the tracks, and giving it to the Northport Fire Department instead. We have a much better chance of them getting here quickly!

I also live north of the track.However I would hope that if a problem occur ed the Northport FD would be called in under mutual aid.Perhaps a FD member out there could comment on this,with the economic condition that now exist spending more $$ should be avoided if at all possible.I would hope that the area fire districts are holding drills on situations such as this.Thank goodness this is the case as demonstrated in the plane splash down on the Hudson river that just occued,all the emergency groups did their thing.JMHO

I have voted twice in favor for the new sub-station. I also live around the corner from it and think they are doing a beautiful job. The new station should be renamed though as St. 2 not St. 1 or the clay Pitts annex. Headquarters is St 1. The new St. 2 would also house company 2 (2 engines) and the ambulance. Hoping to donate at least $1000 to this idea and a new digital sign.
Would be nice if the Board of Fire Commisioners would do more about moving on plans for St 3 for north of the tracks. Giving NFD our district is ludicrous.
I would also like to see the establishment of a paid paramedic in our district and for all new employees hired to be of paramedic status
In addition a fourth chief added to our department

Plus ENFD has to update its website.....its pathetic and refects on our district!!!
