Please tell me, what in God's name is going to fuel a recovery in Vermont? Where is that money coming from? There is no new business to speak of, 12.5% are unemployed and will go somewhere else eventually and no substantial business in their right mind will move to Vermont on their own nickel. Of course you always get the yogurt scammers that come in and rip off taxpayer money representing no net gain in tax revenue. Vermont will become a third world state with just rich and poor.

So let me get this straight: We have no new business; except when we do have new business - and then its a scam? We discourage business; except when we encourage business, and then it's a scam?

Do you ever take off your blinders and see the ridiculous things you're saying?

I've got a better idea: Why don't you put your face back in your buttt and hope for more brains in your next life.

I believe your comments clearly and accurately reflect your ignorance. Only pathetic imbeciles like you have to resort to personal attacks in order to state a position. I would try to explain what I meant by my prior comments but it seems the effort would be wasted on you.

I didn't make that meeting either but did get a honor mention from them. that headline is twisted. if we hit bottom how many directions can it go other than stay put. SO is the headline saying the revenue is up but business not then therefore the taxes or rate must be up to bring the revenue up. OH I forgot this is GOV school of logic not business logic.

How is it possible to forecast increased revenue? With the highest unemployment in years, under employment rising, tax revenue decreasing, hotel bookings way down and no job creation. Politians that care more about gaining credit by having there name on a bill opposed to doing the right thing. Cities and towns that do have development hire out of state contractors and workers-wow that brings revenue to the State! No snow yet, no tourist commith, no revenue! Go figure...

I havent been to vermont in years,so ill ask this.
Vermont has had the reputation of having no business, outsiders ( except tourists, sking ,leafpeeping, vacationers ect) vermont discourages business to build with high taxes, envir fees ect,so who in vermont actually works, except police, firefighters a few Dr. and goverment and those who own tourists attractions, ski resorts ect and those toru.att.ski resorts ect are very low paying jobs.Either you work in NY,CT,Mass, save th cash and retire in VT or you live there and live very low expenses and plan to work a few partime gigs and little jobs here and there.
I mean no offense as i loved visiting Vermont but have none many who moved there looking for work only to move away with in a few years,(example VT was the most moved to state in 97 and the 2nd most moved out of state in 98) which is why i left CT and moved to the midwest for better living,no jobs in VT,ME and few in NH.

Heh! The entire nation is entering a GreatER Depression (scoff now, but wait and see the numbers tell a brutal story). And Vermont is part of America, as much as right wing nutcases wish it wasn't.

But, this game is going to boil down to who can keep themselves warm and fed as the system collapses, and Vermont will be in a FAR better situation than many other states as this unravels. Your personal politics will be irrelevant. A basement full of food and ammunition will only be a temporary fix, the ability for people in your community to grow/raise food long term, and harvest wood to stay warm, have clean water not requiring power and etc? These will become basic requirements to thrive. Not doing this yourself will be ok if you have skills/assets you can barter. But if you can't survive without Hannafords/Price Chopper and etc, you are going to be in a panic. It will be an exciting ride, so buckle up!

The only constant in history is change. Better to be prepared and wrong then unprepared and right.

The flower children are entertaining, growing food and moving it to market takes fuel, logging takes fuel.
Most people in vermont couldn't survive more than a few days and being well armed and backed by a socialist government they will attack anyone with food and redistribute it same as they currently attack anyone with money and redistribute it.

Even if vermont has a plan to take care of itself the federal socialist government would move in and redistribute the wealth of food to starving states.

In computer simulations of the areas in the USA most able to survive if national food/fuel/money supplies end --- the Pacific Northwest, the Great Lakes region, and northern New England show the most survivability. Including Vermont.

All those "hippies" you see using horses to plow and such? Guess who will still be eating when your grocery stores have lines at the door?

Enjoy the ride.

The decade of credit card government. When the balance comes due, transfer it to another card & consider yourself solvent if you can make the monthly interest payments. Whatever happened to the principal of the "thing"? Is anyone but Jim Douglas thinking about that?

Here is a video all American's should be forced to watch, Clockwork Orange style (eyelids propped open). Its funny, but funny because something so simple seems so alien to our lobotomized culture.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
