Here we go again. The bumbling Campo, who has mismanaged everything from teacher contracts to deaf students, has officially become a double-dipper. The disgraced group of retired double-dipping superintendents will now welcome one of their kind ilk to the fold. Campo's own incompetence has lead to a shortage of applicants for his job. Actually, kind of clever on his part in a sick little way. He knew he could count on the enabling school board to come through for him.His comments are sickenly transparent and woefully self-serving.

Since both Massapequa and Harborfields have an extra superintendent - not making this up - maybe one of them could have replaced Campo. Massapequa's extra superintendent spends her time suing the district after being pushed aside (but not fired) in an especially juicy scandal while Harborfields extra superintendent successfully sued her district and won - after their bumbling board hired a new (double dipping) superintendent. Ironically, Harborfied's actual superintendent was the one who blew the whistle on the whole School District Lawyer scandal - and she is the one the Board ineptly tried to fire.

If this were not our tax dollars it would make hilarious science-fiction.

Once again this hack has succeeded in bending the arms of one of the weakest school boards this district has had in ages. If you look back at the history of the East Meadow district you will find that this self-serving individual has been in some form of power (Finance Director and/or Superintendent) for most of the last 30 years. It was hoped a new DS would break the cycle of mediocrity this district has been in...alas we have one more year to wait to be free of this man!
Andrew Cuomo please aim your double-dipping crosshairs straight at Leon Campo!

Firstly, Campos salary is 190K he would getting his pension whether he worked or not so to say he is earning 340 is a distortion because off the district had hired a new sup it would have had to pay his or her salary and pay into the retirement system for the new person it is actually saving money by keeping Campo.

The real scandal is that the Search for Superintendent was derailed by Board Members who promised candidates that their names would remain a secret until they were selected. This was done because the then in minority Board members wanted to prevent a Superintendent from being hired until they could have one more election and hopefully change the composition of the school board. There are two bad consequences of this action. Other candidates will not trust this Board and so the pool of applicants will be limited and the district spent thousands of dollars on the search all for nothing.

The offending Board Members should be sued by some civic minded taxpayer, but they all deny it happening although it is obivious that the source is a Board Member most likely from the opposition that was supported by the teacher's union.

Earth to misinformation: There is enough blame to go around and the greedy and bumbling Campo deserves a goodly share of it. Has it ever occurred to you that it is in HIS interest to see the pool of candidates evaporate? He sounds like he is doing the District a favor for staying on at 'starvation' wages. Tome for him to go...the board can find someone else. He is 65, been there forever, and the place is a disaster. Coincidence...I think not!
