Rob Reinhardt is a wonderful man who happens to be gay, and this has all the earmarks of a witch-hunt.
I did not know him as well as some but he was never anything but sincere and professional, always there if you needed someone to talk to or had a problem.
There is always the chance that the people we find to be the nicest and most genuine are not, but I do not believe this is the case.

All of you juding him on his physical appearance and making such obscene comments should grow up. Nobody knows what exactly happened and nobody will know the facts until the trial begins. Shame on all of you for passing judgement. And those of you attacking the school should get your information straight. It is impossible for prep-schools to prevent incidents such as these from occurring. "The Gunnery should go down.." what a stupid comment to make. This could have happened anywhere and it has happened at one point or another to every single boarding school. The only reason this case is getting so much attention is because it deals with homosexuality, which is unfortunate and paints a dissapointing picture of our society. The Gunnery changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of students and it is completely unacceptable to allow one event to fully represent this institution. Based on all of these horrific comments that are being made, it scares me to think that such close-minded, uneducated people exist in this society.

He was always there because he had an agenda--to bed them.

So, hoping the Gunnery goes down, eh?

I find this to be a comment, as well as Hank's comment, that is filled with insolence and ignorance. Do your research before posting on here about people who you do not know anything about except for what you read in one news article. You, Hank of Danbury, seem to have the insolence to stereotype everyone at the school as being of similar orientation to the former Dean. Likewise, Wordofadvice from Pennsylvania, a word of advice to you: there are more people at the Gunnery than the Dean. Many people view the Gunnery as a home away from home, and for you to say you hope that it "goes down" is inexcusably insensitive. Shame on you!

I don't really care who any of you posting here are, or what you think about the school and who goes there, but you can keep it to yourselves, because the Gunnery is not going down. George Smith Patton once said "success is how high you bounce when you hit the bottom". The Gunnery has been dealt a blow to our reputation and to our community. We will rebuild our reputation, but it will be difficult.

The school houses roughly 300 students. This incident is not just about a Dean or a school. It involves the students, too, who now, as evidenced by the insensitive and ignorant stereotyping done by Hank concerning the Gunnery Graduate and by Jack concerning the Former Parent, have to deal with the school's tarnished reputation trailing them. The next time someone decides they have something to say regarding the gunnery going down, just remember, there are several of the nation's future great minds currently studying there, and trust me, we are not any happier about what happened than you are.

And as for Word of Advice, I'd just like to let you know that if it weren't for the fact that I had been told that Rhino was gay, I would have never guessed. He definitely did not act as though he was.

To Betty of Rockfall, CT, read the news! Yes, there was an investigation, that's how they know that it was not just one, but several: investigations have been made at his apartment at the school.

I was both a student of Bob Reinhardt's from '00-'03 when I graduated, and on his men's crew (rowing) team. While he was openly gay, he NEVER made ANY inappropriate advances, despite the fact that I occasionally did sleep over before crew races, and was openly bisexual. He was a friend, confidant, and mentor. An instructor there during my Junior year attempted to start rumors of such a scandal with he and myself, which were quickly quelled. I find these allegations outrageous, and am sickened that homophobia in parents, or in this student, would disgrace and disrepute such a fine man.

It is never appropriate for students to be spending the night with a faculty member, much less a member of the administration. The fact that the school new this was going on is completely unacceptable and irresponsible for a boarding school or any school for that matter. I do like him but if he preyed upon even one child, he is a monster.
I am not a Gunnery fan and feel that there are so many boarding schools that are run more professionally and have more to offer in terms of facilities and the progressiveness of their education (I feel it is a bit of a dinosaur). Obviously, it has served some students well,so I am happy for those who felt it was the best placement for them.

Brownout, beyond the fact that you can't spell, and judge someone you've obviously never met, if a school were to not hire him, or fire him, due to his sexual preference, that's illegal. It's called discrimination. He could sue.
Anyway, if parents had a problem with him, they could request their son not live in that dorm. Or, simply, not go to that school. Easy enough- going to a prep school is a CHOICE- nobody is forcing those kids to stay in that school, dorm, or even his apartment. Those are all choices.
Not to mention, he obviously had the trust of the administration. I'd trust him with my own sons, were I to have any.

Daily Horoscope for November 28

The Moon completes her course through your fourth house of home and family, for better or for worse. Of course, your home is what you make it, and we often create a replica of our childhood experience. If you aren't happy with your living arrangements, you would do well to consider what influences from the past have led you to create something you are dissatisfied with.
