Actually you moron, yes they DO throw kids in jail for this very same thing. There was a 14 year old boy arrested and tried as an adult just last month for sending and receiving pictures of his GIRLFRIEND who was 13. you are an idiot. There are confirmed cases of children as young as 11 on the registry for what you would have considered 'playing doctor'. People like YOU are the reason for this hysteria. The real criminals are smart enough to avoid the registry, so now they are making normal teen aged behaviors illegal. In your perfect little world nothing bad happens to good people right? Freak..
And for the guy who said that most are on the registry for having a thing for kids, you're even more stupid than Sue T. MOST people are on the list for NOT having a thing for kids. less than 1/3 of the offenses on the registry are for kids, and then when you add in the number of teens they are putting on the list for normal behaviors, that would bring your count down too.
The greatest danger to our kids is ourselves. over 90% of all sexual crimes against children are committed IN THE HOME, or by a family friend. Less than 10% are committed by strangers. You people are idiots.
Completly agree.

Have you even read what people are saying. Noone has condoned criminal behavior yet you continue to spuut off at the mouth. The list is flawed and needs to be revamped. There are people on the list for peeing in public, for moonong thier friends, and so on. where are these people sexual preditors? Yes I agree that true sexual preditors should be incarserated(realy I think they should be hung in a public forum) and never allowed back into socity. But before this happend the list needs updating. This is what is being said. If I read you right a person goes to jail for whatever reason and serves thier time they should be baned from living a normal life? If this is so then bring back the lynch mobs and get rid of the courts and just kill everyone accused of a crime.

Joe I think it depends what the crime is,thats all ..if they raped a 5 year old they should be killed imo,but ther are times when they get out after 10-20years that is what I am reffering to .if they just did something stupid like indecent exposure then yes I agree ,cut them some slack, they shouldnt be on that list to begin with. I was not aware that such minimal crimes like that would get them on thatlist .And frankly when I look at the list there are alot of perverted old nasty men on it that freak a mom out okay,if you were a woman you might see my side, they are not all innocent really, some of them actually deserve to be there and shouldnt be let out in society.yes update the lists I agree you are right but keep the pervs out of the schools, libraries etc....

Now that you understand where the posters are comming from let me ask this. Is ther such a thing as being rehibilitated? If yes then why should someone that has done thier time (and not committed any other crime after getting out)have to be marked for all to see? As I have said in the past repeat offenders should be put away for ever. I just don't feel all criminals are the same but they are labbled that way. Even though I am not a mother I am a father of three and my youngest is a girl age 22. I would do anything to protect them if it came to it yes I would kill or be killed for my children eventhough they are grown. I just feel everyone deserves a second chance and only one. no three strikes just two.

Florida recently ran into trouble with this type of law....they made so many restrictions where they could and couldn't go/live that many ended up living outside under bridges....in one county there wasnt anywhere that was outside the distance limits from schools and libraries other than an underpass off the interstate...so a bunch of them decided to live in cars and under the bridge.

If these people are such a risk, and they certainly could be, keep them in jail. Once they serve the sentance they should be granted the same rights of everyone else....so mandatory 25-50 year jail terms without parole would eliminate most problems.....its the dopey judges and weak people elected here in ct who are afraid to impose a serious jail terms/ & laws....so blame your state rep and senator and gov.

This is what everyone's been saying to you the whole time. No one's condoning child rape . or for that matter letting a child rapist out of prison. what we've been saying is the list is flawwed, and you come out and accuse us of either being on the list or having thoughts against kids.

not everyone can rehabilitate as far as I am concerned, you may have a different opinion if your kids were ever in a situation where that happened,I am just trying to put myself in those families shoes,I am sorry I am not that forgiving of a person I guess, maybe that is my flaw, dont know but if anyone ever did anything to me ,my sister or my kids or my mother I am not going to be a hypocrite and say I could forgive that.If I were 16 and were with an 18 year old and parents pressed charges thats a whole different story there...well enough said done with this thread for good...

ITA with you. My husband hired a driver a few years ago, and one day he had to leave early. He told him he had to go see his PO. He was 19, the GF was 17, she got pregnant, and the parents pressed charges. I don't think it's fair that a person like that be labeled a sex offender for the rest of their life. There's a man in my neighborhood on the registry, but I looked into it, and it was for sexually assaulting his partner. Granted, it's still wrong, but in no way do I feel he is a threat to me, or my daughter.
And you are also right about the 90%. Only 10% of molestation cases are done by strangers. You need to look at the people in your life, not the 'creepy looking guy' at the park. Most child molesters are people you know, that you would NEVER expect. Every woman I know that has been molested was molested by either a father, uncle, or male related to a friend.

But that is what you don't understand. While statutory rape is a WHOLE different thing, THEY ARE STILL CONSIDERED A SEX OFFENDER AND WILL BE FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE. That's the problem with these laws, not all the people it effects are monsters.

Know you are done and I can agree with you that if it happened to my family would I forgive them Probobly not but that don't mean they should not be given a second chance.

Oh wow. leave your kids in the park now, they're getting a warning for first offense, and a fine for the second. Never mind the fact that most new assaults take place by someone they know and someone not on the registry. good job wasting tax payer dollars. put this money into treatment and or locking up the violent repeat offenders.
I think I get the first part. It would seem to be a good Idea no matter what not to let your small kids run around a park alone. Its not like the days of yesteryear. I never did, To many messed up people in Society,Now I think they have laws about leaving your kids at home alone, that could land the parent in jail. It sounds like a feel good ordinance thats about it. What about woman rapists? Ban Offenders from anywhere woman are? We could tatoo them like Germany did to the Undesireables and the Jews. Where do we draw the line on the Govt creating a complete police state? This could get interesting to see where all this leads. Its like Smokers or overweght kids, Picking on them and public shame as the muslims do is all the rage. Boy we travel a slippery slope. Remember all laws are created for the stupidity of a few but in the end we all pay the price for them. Just being a male alone in a park could get you harassed by the police? Good practice or violation of your rights? you choose how you want to live. We already allowed the Dems to control our State and we all are better off for it right? Life is great, taxes are low, Crime is down, Govt is fair and working for the people? So we should all be happy.
