How wonderful that it has been recognized that EG would be shouldering a huge cost to renovate a small portion of the trail and that others will help pay for it. However, I'm still not clear on who coughs up the initial payment, the state or EG? Also, is EG still the one to maintain the bridge over time? I think it is only right that we get help with this as well.

This is a wonderful addition to the town, keeping small kids/bikers off the roads.

The town is in financial hardship???? I don't think so! Like many towns, they senior citizens, low income families, and then, there's that population that drives BMWs, Lexus, Mercedes, and let's not forget the Humers. The 150 celebration didn't set them back that much! This town has a long history of patching here and there and ignoring long range planning and dealing with the reality of tired elementary school buildings!

Agree that EG has put off dealing with renovating schools. My concern is the money to be spent on maintaining a bridge for a bike path (used by residents/nonresidents). How about putting it toward a new school! Also, the 150th funding did not come from the town. A small group of volunteers worked hard to raise money from private businesses. Our children, not a bike path, are our future.

Volunteers and fund raising made Celebration 150 happen-A bike path does have merit when you look, even in EG at the obesity rate young people typify. Let's form a committee and have a bake sale to get going on a new elementary school!

"our children, not a bike path" "a bake sale" "maintaining the bridge" Words from moms riding in an a/c SUV on their way to a soccer game with a cell phone in one hand and Starbucks in the other. Apples and oranges, watermelon and peanuts. The rail to trails organization has volunteers that help maintain the trail, remove trash(yes, Starbucks cups) and in some part, help maintain bridges. With all the problems in the world, worrying about maintenance of a bridge..........Back to your a/c equipd SUV and soccer games. Ya'll stay in your coocons and let the rest of the world take care of it's self.
