The posted thread here on Deano's in Dublin GA is typical of what is the problem in our society today. I despise the pot shots that the people in that thread who have never has aspired to do anything take at these people that had the guts to do something so bold in a town that appeared to so desperately need it. My wife and I lived in Italy for seven years while traveling abroad and upon hearing about this place traveled for over an hour to visit it. I wasn't even sure I was in the right place when I saw the surrounding area and was expecting a disappointment but I was delightfully surprised. I was very impressed by the cuisine especially the lasagna and brick fired pizza and you could tell the quality of the ingredients. By reading the childish posts in that thread (that we could not post on) it is clear to me that Dublin just may not be deserving of this restaurant or the people who built it. The comments above, especially about laughing about people going to a different restaurant, sound more like personal attacks against the owners or jealousy than about the food but my two cents is that this place makes you feel like you’re in a much bigger town than Dublin and my wife and I loved it. Johnny's, or anything else I've had since coming to Georgia, doesn't come close.

I just ate there yesterday and had a brick fired pizza. It was just like this Italian Pizzeria in Boston that was run my direct from Sicily friends of my grandparents. It was AWESOME!

The pizzas were unimpressive, thin, white, underfilled, virtually tasteless. The stromboli filling was excessively spicy (hot pepper) and the serving-size was not generous. The bread knots with garlic butter were quite good. The waitress was attentive, refilling our water and drinks regularly. The salads were fine and the dressing served on the side was ample. The building is old-warehouse classic, with echo-high ceilings. Ruining the evening was the fact that our 4 diners' entrees came spaced out over a very long time, with the first two (including one of the 3 pizzas) arriving at a normal time, another coming thirty minutes later, and the fourth (identical order to the third) another 15-20 minutes later. They explained that the chef was just learning how to use the much-touted imported high-temperature brick oven and the food kept sticking. This might have been a decent excuse, except that they have been in business there for a year, and someone else told us that has been a continuing problem at this Deano's. Reviewers on other sites have also mentioned the entrees arriving at different times and problems with using the special oven.

It is great to have attempts to revitalize downtown Dublin, and we love Italian, but Deano's on this visit was very disappointing. It was nice they gave us a complimentary dessert to make up for the poor service (it arrived before the final entree). Maybe, if they get their act together and stay in business another year, till next Halloween-time, we'll give them another try.

Maybe we need to remember that there are owners and don't blame it on the faces taht you see in there because they are just the employees and thier hands are tied. The owners need to know what they are doing and I give the place 4-6 months to last and it will go down.
disappointed

I have always enjoyed going into Deano's Italian. They have wonderful service, and great food. My family and I went last week and was not impressed at all. I never thought I'd say it was that awful but it was. I asked someone and they did say they have new owners and they were going through some changes. I miss the old Deano's and old faces and hope it will pick itself up one day.

The manager was unwilling to accomadate a party of seven that wanted to sit together. The staff try as they might was not allowed (upon order of the manager) to push two tables together. The place was pretty much empty at the time. The staff was perplexed at the manager. We left and ate across the street at Smoking Lobos.

I have enjoyed this place for many months but went in the other day and it was the worst expeience I have had in there. It took me one hour and a half to get a lunch lasgana and a hogaie. The service was terrible the guy had at least 10 other tables and needed help, all the manager was doing was standing there was his arms againgst his chest.I hope that this is not what to expect when and if I come back.I ask myself, what is going on? This was not the place I had bragged on.

Daily Horoscope for December 25

Aries

You've got a taste for adventure today, so you might decide to depart from tradition in some way and make it an unusual Christmas. You're certainly all set for a great time, and you'll want everyone else to enjoy themselves as much as possible. You'll probably eat and drink too much but, hey, it's Christmas! Isn't such excess par for the course?
