Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I just want you all to know that Eraser Mate AKA Piggy only did what he thought was best. That space was needed for something else in the future. We have to save resources everywhere you can. I'm probably working from home today again. If anything important happens today I got citizens that call me personally to tell, so I will be posted. I'm not worried about nothing I just shake alot from the heart medicine they gonna start me on. I know I'm the best at being chief and I'm bout to build a new station and yall getting 12 new cars now. It was 10 but that wasn't enough. I know you think I lie all the time but I don't. I can only be MISUNDERSTOOD when my mouth is moving. Other people just don't see the heat I take for yall. It take a bunch of energy to do what I do. My grandmother would say that excuses are a vehicle for incompetence.
Ps: New uniform change. We gonna all wear all purple with gold shoes.

<quoted text>Thank you for serving in the Army. You are right I like how Cal City cleaned up 142nd St.
The water park will never happen it still in court. They are putting a Food for Less where the old Kmart Store was. It will be opening soon but it if a TIF that is low to no taxes back to the schools, park, public works, police, fire, library for a number of years. Yes and I would like to see the bars in Dolton who prey on young people to close for good! All most 1/2 of Sibly in in a TIF. It does not help the Communty. Be safe out there and THANK YOU again.
And Thank You for serving in Dolton JR! I can understand how frustrating it can be that none of the tax dollars go back into the schools, parks, etc because of the TIF's. I do hope that Food for Less works out and eventually the tax money will go where it's needed.(Food for Less, I think, is owned by Kroger Foods which is a good grocery chain.)Maybe that will attract some other needed business's that will benefit the families of Dolton.

Like I said with Calumet City, it's not perfect, but they did a nice job of making River Oaks an "indoor" mall some years back, and those business's all around there seem to be holding thier own. Ironically, River Oaks was built the same year as Dixie Mall in Harvey-1966. When Lincoln Mall opened-that was the death knell of Dixie Square. Lincoln Mall also killed the mall in Park Forest.

The last time I drove through "Cal" City, it seemed to still have some pretty decent areas, not that Dolton doesn't. The roads seemed to be better overall. As far as them "being broke," what other villages in the area aren't hurting now?

I don't know why anyone would think that Cal City is better now than before they tore down the strip. It was for a few years but if you live here now, you have to know that this place is just like Dolton, maybe worst. Murders, shootings, drugs being sold in plain view, robberies every day. Our mayor did put up a water park or something in Green Lake and spent millions of our taxes on stupid flower pots, made a beautiful park at the old Memorial Park site, but none of these costly "improvements" will be used because most people are afraid to send their kids out during the day around here. And, please don't go anywhere around Misch (our only close grocery store) around 3:00 when the animals are let out of the school. Wake up!!!! Cal City is the new Cabrini Green, thanks to Chicago's tearing down their slum so people here in the southern suburbs have lost their safe, clean place to live. Is everyone out there blind?
That area where "the strip" was is the oldest part of Calumet City. Back in the day it was the "Las Vegas" of it's time!(You probably already knew that-but that info is easily found online for those that don't). As far as I recall, that area had it's problems going back for many, many years. Be glad that strip is gone, it wouldn't be any better with it being there still. Too bad the area has had the increase in crime. There have been a lot of houses and apartments torn down in that area because they were old and neglected. I'm not saying that all the people around there don't keep their property up, but much of it was all rental property, and that attracted some less then desireable people. Cal City should continue to condemn old neglected houses in that area and recognize those that keep their property up. That area is right next door to Hammond, which seems to be bringing their "downtown area" back to life. That old part of Calumet City may one day be ripe for redevelopment once all the old neglected housing is removed. As for now, that has to be tough to live in that area. Can a neighborhood watch be started? Isn't there a South Suburban Task Force that's supposed to handle those problem? Back in the day, those Calumet city Cops didn't put up with that stuff going on, but with the financial situation, people in the area will probably have to step up and be proactive against the criminals. I also realize that it's easier said than done. You will also have to get that neighborhood to challege the city hall to get aggressive in that area to run off the crime and tear down the drug houses.

This is what should be done in Dolton, do you not think? Look at Downtown Dolton? What happened? Just bring the bulldozer and take down the buildings that should be gone and let us start again. I use to be able to do all my shopping in Downtown Dolton and walk to the Jewel/Osco on 144th Street as well as Sterk's Foods (FAIRWAY). Not only that I would walk to the laundromats and when done would walk to the tavern for refreshments. You see, I am someone that never had a car, lived in Dolton (all their life) and either walked or took the suburban bus to where ever I had to go. What am I to do--MOVE? I would have never thought that, but I am reconsidering. Now with taxes going up and having to get my house up to code, so that I can sell (when I bought my house it was AS IS), and lose money, because no one wants to buy at your price, I MIGHT as well stay here and WAIT and see if they (Lewis/Shaw or Shaw/Lewis) can help us OLDER REIDENTS out. It is up to them!! Either you can shut your eyes and think everythng is just right "OR" you can help us ALL out and KEEP DOLTON ALIVE!!

It is such a shame to see all the posts on here about the Dolton Police Department, I happen to know a few people that work for the department and all of them are not what people think they are!! Granted there are people that take advantage of certain positions that they have and there are some that shouldn't even have the positions, but by the looks of the comments you would think that this is nothing but a upset employee that was taking advantage of everything that their commenting on and not anymore.. If you think about how do you know so much about what Thief Fox and Pigolon is doing if you were not doing it your self.. The police department as a whole should take responsibilty for there part in why the town is the way it is... I see squad cars parked all the time at the little bar across from Mr. Ricky's and the pool hall on 142nd don't tell me your doing police work... I bet your in there running your mouth as usual... Officers riding around on the cell phones people coming to work drunk or better yet not even coming to work but they continue to put there mouths on certain ones what do you do wrong??? Next time you post something be man or woman enough to say who you are so the dolton citizens can address these allegations to the right people...

OTD, I just wrote a reply to you're post, but it was too long, so I'll have to break it down to 2-3 posts.(I worked on that for about 30 minutes too!)
First, I don't agree with local government coming into peoples homes, violating their privacy, and making some bucks from "inspection fees." Granted, there are some homes that should probably be condemned, but a home buyer should do there best in hiring a qualified home inspector. I do agree with a disclosure statement, but any deficiencies should be worked out between the buyer and seller and the selling price can be adjusted for repair work needing to be done. It was also believed to be a scam too when the village imposed these inspection requirements and fees some years back!
As it stands now, if you have a home valued at $70,000 but you need a roof replacement, some electrical issues to be fixed and maybe some minor plumbing problems, you have to fix them. Let's say that you spend $10,000 to get it all fixed. Guess what? Your home is still valued at $70,000. Now your competing with all the foreclosed homes on the market, so now your only going to get $50,000 for your home! Is the village going to inspect those foreclosed homes that the banks own and make them bring them up to code? NOT! They'd rather make their bucks off the backs of the residents and not these banks that caused all the problems, and now we are forced to save them!
OTD-don't sell now, it's a buyers market!

OTD-Tear down Downtown Dolton? Nay! That's part of Dolton's character! This is not the "strip" in Calumet City! But, it should be redeveloped by an outside firm that are experts in that field. Maybe the old "Dolton Office Center" can be torn down for a new Walgreens or something like that. Those brick buildings, for the most part, should last forever with proper maintenance!
JR wrote that a new "Food for Less" is going into where K Mart was, but under a TIF zone, where the tax money goes directly to the village, but not the schools, parks, schools, etc. I can agree with lower taxes to help deaw in new businesses, but all public services should get a piece of the pie!

Maybe a new grocery store should go in closer to Downtown Dolton. A new laundry mat should make a killing in there too!

What is the new school going into the old Jewel all about? Is it public or private?

It's sad to think that people all over are being foreclosed on out of their homes because of owing back taxes! You get these lawyers who just drool over and hunt out the homes of people who owe back taxes. They buy the taxes owed when the homeowner can't come up with the money to pay them, than they charge interest too. When the homeowner can''t afford to buy back the taxes with the imposed interest, the wolves get their homes for a song. These people who buy the taxes are preying on the elderly, the disabled, our families, our friends, our foes, Everyone! The sad thing is that the families who lose there home get nothing back! Let's say you can't come up with, for example,$7,000 for bck taxes you owe. Well you're put out of your $120,000 that you owned and you get zero back! These crooks get your home for a song and get rich off of the needy. What's wrong with taking out the money that is owed to pay taxes, maybe a few fees. but the rest of the equity given back to the people who lost their home? This where everyone should be writing their Congressmen & Women, Senators and end this robbery now! Especially now with how the econmy is! The government should be helping people by not letting them be robbed!

It's sad when GM, the Banks, Chrysler, etc. get Federal Loans to stay in business but they'll let the same banks, helped out by your TAX Dollars (or lack of-pun intended!), take YOUR HOME!

(Now I am a bit off topic, but it's happening to people in Calumet City, Dolton, Riverdale, etc. and I know people who this is happening to!)

As for the others you certainly out rank them and could have addressed any behavior displayed! We see you all from office to office trying to do damage control. **********To: Mayor Ronnie C. Lewis, Mayor of Dolton, Trustees of Dolton, the Residents of Dolton**********Can we please put an end to this right now? Enough is enough! Right now our country is at stake and no one knows exactly what the outcome is going to be. But one thing for sure, we need to help each other out here! Quit barking up each other's trees and Help each other instead. If you see wrong doing--CALL THE POLICE! Children out past curfew--CALL THE POLICE! Try and buy your groceries--HERE IN DOLTON!! If you need work done to your home--HIRE IN DOLTON!! SUPPORT DOLTON--is where I am coming from!! Just because we live here does not mean that we have to try and make a buck off of our neighbors. We have alot of arrogance here between men, women and children, yes we do!! Years ago, I had a elderly couple living next to me. Just because they could not cut the lawn or shovel their walks or take their trash to the curb, I did what I could to help out. The reason I did it is because their children passed away and their grandchildren lived on the east coast. Within a year and a half of their loss, they both passed away a couple of months apart. We are taught by our families to help others, we learn that in our churches and schools. I did my best and that is what I got out of it--I helped this couple, becasue I wanted to go the extra mile!! Everyday is another trial in Life! Be good to others, smile at the store or the bank. Be kind hold the door, even if it takes you a couple more minutes to get in there. Remember, it does not take any money to be kind!! That is why I say I am "Tired In Dolton", because everyone that does something for you wants to be paid...Can you imagine what this town of Dolton would be like if everyone could be more kinder and smile and even say Thank You!! LIFE IS SCARY FOLKS, YOU DO NOT KNOW ONE DAY TO THE NEXT IF YOU ARE EVEN GOING TO BE HOME THE DAY OR NIGHT...Think about this, talk to your children about this, this is "what it is"!!

Some day when you need help I hope you get just what you give to Dolton. You waste our money and cause us harm. So that oath you took when you became an officer, you didn't take to heart. I'm sure you have some more little buddies that are just like Robert Shaw and Chief Fox. Stealing time and writing the report wrong so their friends don't go to jail. They violate person's civil rights, and pay off their friends with our Dolton tax dollars while putting the law abiding officers, and the citizens of Dolton, in grave danger! You all need to go to jail so we can have a place where we can be safe. I want to thank the police officers who are working hard in a thankless spot under these ignorant, overgrown bullies. Every single complaint (and they are all complaints) are about the same topic. The degeneracy of democracy. Look to the society as a whole and how out-of-touch with the fundemental ideals of just a few (who are active voters) to understand why its so messed up. The problem is nation-wide. Nobody but americans really (say they)like americans, but its a lie. You americans (for the most part)apparently hate each other.

Tiger Leahu,

Back in the 1970's & 1980's, there was a popular saying in this country: "America, Love it or Leave it."

Just to let you know a little bit about American History, we have survived the Revolutionary War, a bloody Civil War, 2 World Wars, several other past and present conflicts, Depressions, Recessions, Natural Disasters, Acts of Agrression and Terrorism, just to name a few. We have always bounced back and many others had to face the Great American Resolve.

As far as Democracy goes, it's not perfect, but it has worked in this country for over 230 years. As Americans, we are one huge family with racial divides, squabbles, differences, etc., but when some outsiders comes in and attack us, this "American Family" comes together in a united front, whether Black, White, brown, Red or Yellow, and fights the enemy with all it has, such as when 9-11 happened. We also come together and help each other out when there are natural disasters such as floods, tornados, and earthquakes, etc. Look at all the help sent down south after Hurricane Katrina. Where is the hatred that you speak of?

As a militry member, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to travel. I have been to places that made me thankful to God for what I have. I've also been to Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and with the exception of enemy combatives, I was always treated well and with respect. Again, where is all this hatred that you speak of?

Lastly, when you say "you Americans" instead of "we Americans," you truly are not an American. Be careful in what you say so that you are not miscontrued as being some sort of Extremist. Perhaps you came from a Communist country where there were very few rights, or from a place where what you wrote could result in being imprisoned or going before firing squad. Wherever you came from, nobody is forcing you to stay here and there are many who would gladly take your place. You know this too!

Your record speaks for itself look at all the burglaries and homicides and robberies you have. You dummies can ride right past the people who are committing the crimes, their laughing at you while you are DRUNK!!! A police officer told me the other day that this guy, riley rogers, who ran for mayor arrested a guy with a saw off shotgun last Friday on Sibley and Michigan avenue. He is a cook county police investigator. The guy and his brother have committed numerous burglaries in dolton, so holland , riverdale and some of the other suburbs. I guess this guy really wants to make dolton safe. I think the wrong guy was voted in for mayor.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aquarius

Money is a source of friction between you and friends now, so treat it with caution and respect. There could be a disagreement between you and a chum about a possession or a debt that one of you owes the other. If you're trying to organize a forthcoming social event, you could come unstuck when working out how much it's all going to cost because it might be far too expensive.
