Wow. I am a friend of the Emig family and I actually live on the same road as Jed and watched him take off yesterday. I just cant believe this has happened.
Jed was a very good guy and very good at riding. This just goes to show it can happen to anyone... My prayers go out to the entire Emig family.
*And to PO up top get a f***ing life!

Sorry for your loss... Just as a note to other riders out there- please consider wearing a helmet when you ride. Helmets reduce the likelihood of crash fatality by 37 percent.-NHTSA
Sorry

Passing on a curve...not a smart idea, passing on the shoulder...not a smart idea.....not wearing a helmet....dumb idea!! However, we all make mistakes while driving or riding and we can only hope our mistakes don't end like this. My prayers to the Emig family. Mistakes don't make us bad people!

I wish to express my sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Emig. That stretch of road is a dangerous place it seems for cyclists. From spring to fall, we have constant motorcyclists up and down the mountain. I do not have a problem, nor am I complaining about motorcycles. However, the speed that most are obtaining is very dangerous. Not just for them but for others as well. I would love for them to close the WATERING HOLE at the top of the mountain...that is a large gathering place on the weekends for the cyclists.
I prayed for the victim or victims when I heard the sirens, and again I am very sorry for your loss.

First of all sorry to the family for their loss and prayers go out to u!!!! now would u please tell me how the Watering hole caused this accident??? it sits at top of a mountain!!! only us as drivers cause accidents, we are the ones driving the cars or bikes!! We got to buckle up to drive a car but yet we can ride a bike with no helmet makes no sense at all, whoever took that law away should be ousted asap!!!! its people who drive who cause most accidents their was no parts failure, the bike did not crash itself!!!!!

P.O.

If i am not mistaken, the motorcycle deaths this year have to be higher then normal. Just on Route 30 and 75 alone in a 3 mile radius there have been 3. Can someone check, it would be interesting to see how many this year as compared to years past.

It seems to me there are more people starting to ride motorcycles. This would probably be why there is an increase in accidents.

so sorry for his family and friends, from what I know he was a great person. I know he will be very missed and thought of often. this was an accident and was no ones fault. Accidents happen to all kinds of people driving all kinds of motorized vehicles on all kinds of roads at all times of day and night. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.

It isn't unusual to hear bikes cranking up as they hit the straight piece of road between 75 and old 30. It's simple, you drink and ride bad things happen. I live close enough to this section of Route 30 to know. I was outside most of Sunday and knew I would be hearing EMS coming sooner or later. A 2 second lacks in judgement, especially on a bike and it's over. Remember that while on top the mountain. Alive one second, the next instance, life here is over. I love to ride my bike but not after drinking anything alcoholic. If I was the family I would sue if the BAL came back very high. In Pa it is unlawful to service alcohol to someone that is VIP.

Legally intoxicated or not, impairment begins at the first drink...
