Tucker to have another zoning hearing

After three hours of debate, East Berlin's zoning hearing board determined Tuesday night that the borough did properly serve two notices of zoning violation to controversial businessman Bernie Tucker earlier this summer.

Finally, finally some result for the fortune that this council has spent on lawyers.
They are contemplating cutting services (what services do they provide?) and things like turning off every other street light to find money for this. They are also going to want to raise taxes to continue this.

No doubt about it, taxes are going up. Why not work with each other instead of against each other. I agree that the emissions are a concern and council and citizens were right in addressing this issue. My understanding is that emissions are now within legal limits and they have paid fines for their past wrong doings. It's almost as if council is more concerned about who gets the last word vs. the fact that the issue has been resolved. As for the "violations" of the Tucker sign and the BBQ smoke, these are totally ridiculous and far supercede and sense of rational behavior. I am a citizen of the boro and it's an embarrassment to know that our "leaders" act in this manner. To those at fault, remember that election is next week. For other boro citizens who are tired of this game, get out and vote!!!

It is getting to the point that it is embarasssing to say you live in East Berlin...when this petty bickering between the "leaders" of East Berlin and a promenet business keeps hitting the news. Let me ask the council this...what are you going to do if Tucker decides he's had enough of your crap and pulls his business out of the area and all his employees lose their jobs...how are they going to pay the taxes that are needed to pay off all the lawyer bills you keep stacking up??? This council is the biggest joke I have ever heard of and I have seen many councils in many states in my career and my time with the military. With the economy the way it is you would think East Berlin Council would be bending over backwards to keep the businesses they have and the people working there employed, but NO they are trying with everything they have to run out the businesses, be it Tucker or the Pit Beef place .Do you want a DEAD town, keep it up and that's what you will have.

It is almost impossible to understand why the current council wants to bite the hand that feeds them. Tucker pays almost $100,000 in taxes each year. Can we really afford to lose that tax base? With lawyer bills approaching the $40,000 mark, it is no wonder that our TAXES ARE GOING UP for the first time in 12 years (increasing 1 mill). The only answer is to clean house, get out and vote this Tuesday and replace any current members with the reasonable, responsible candidates running on the Republican ticket.

"PAID OFFICAL"!!!
TUCKER GOES BY THE BOOK, AND THEN 4 YEARS LATER
FIND OUT THE BOROUGH MANAGER / ZONING OFFICER AT THE TIME DID NOT KNOW THAT:
A) THE DISTRIC WAS CHANGED LIGHT INDUSTRIAL
TO MIXED USE IN 2002
B) TUCKER DID HAVE TO APPLY FOR SPECIAL EXEMPTION
C) BOROUGH MAMANGER / ZONING OFFICER COMPLETED ALL FORMS, BUT THEY WERE NOT COMPLETED CORRECTLY,
D) GET APPROVAL FROM PANNING OFFICER, WHO NOW WILL NOT ADMITT OR HAS DEVELOPED A CONVIENT MEMORY
ABOUT EVER REVIEWING THE DOCUMENTS AND OR DRAWINGS THAT THE BOROUGH MANAGER / ZONING OFFICER SUBMITTED TO HIM FOR HIS REVIEW.
SO THE STORY GOES ON, AND ON AND ON.
DID TUCKER DO "THEIR DUE DILLAGENCE" BY ASKING THE BOROUGH MANAGER / ZONING OFFCIER HAVE WE MET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS AND APPROVALS, AND GET A "YES YOU HAVE" A AND BUILDING PERMITT AND APPLICATIONS ARE COMPLETED. ALL COST ARE PAID IN FULL, AND TUCKER BEGINS TO BUILD.
WAS THE BOROUGH MANAGER / ZONING OFFICER INCOMPENDENT OR NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE OF ALL THE REQUIREMENTS IN HIS DUTIES, AS A PAID MEMBER OF THE BOROUGH AND GETTING AN ADDITIONAL $150.00 PER MONTH TO BE THE ZONING OFFICER.
JUST WHERE DOES "DUE DILLAGENCE RESPONSIBILITY FALL UNDER WHEN A PAID OFFICAL IS INCOMPENTENT!!!
TUCKER SHOULD BE HANDED ALL THE SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS HE HAS REQUESTED, AND RECEIVE A FULL APPOLIGY FROM THE CURRENT BOROUGH COUNCIL AND ZONING BOARD.
THAT IS THE FACTS......
