i think serving beer in chapel hill is a very bad idea. if you all are worried about drugs in this town then just think what this will attract. DUI's all over the place. will the cops in this town get off their you know what's and watch out for drunk drivers? the safety of our young people is at stake here.

You are so nieve. It doesn't matter if they serve it in Chapel Hill or not. If people want to drink they will find a way. I'm sure you still spend your money in places like O'Charley's, Logan's and other places that they serve beer. Please stop pointing fingers at the availability and start teach your vaules and morals at home. That's what's wrong with this world too many people want to blame others and not take any ownership of their responsibilities.

Beer in a restaurant is not the issue when it comes to DUI. How many people are going to take their family to Los Fiestas and get sloppy and then have a wreck at Chapel Hill's 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT on their 3 MINUTE DRIVE HOME? Get a clue people! The DUI's will come from people driving to Spring Hill or Columbia, to have better options on a restaurant, and then maybe, just maybe, the 30 minute drive, at break-neck speed (45 mph) might do them in,(Yeah, right) Welcome to 2008....PHUCKER!

i agree with curiosity. you see it all depends on who you are in this town. it runs on the good ole boy network. the laws outside of chapel hill don,t matter. only matters what laws the good ole boys make up for their boys.

That makes no sense. Like the owners of the Mexican Restraunt are good ole boys. Get a new soap box.

Okay, beer drinkers are beer drinkers. Whether you buy it in a restaurant, grocery store or gas station. And just because the restaurant is near churches and schools does'nt mean it can't serve alcohol! It's not like alcohol is a pedophile or a strip club!!! If you go by that thinking then the local grocery stores and gas stations (who sell alcohol) wouldn't be able to be near a school or church either! That's too funny.

I don't know if I could have said more..I remember the days that the only place you could but alchol was Nashville, and the deaths on that highway were out the roof..Drunks don't eat food when they get drunk , they drink..
We have a new kind of citizen in Chapel Hill that were raised on beer and food in the north and unless we get rid of them and the taxes they pay, food and beer are as normal a lifestyle as pie and ice cream are to us..

itstead of worrying about the people who want to have a couple beers at dinner you should be worrying about all the Forrest High alums and the parents out there who are buying providing alcohol for minors!!

Just because the Mayor of Chapel Hill was the deciding factor (due to a tie vote) and is a member of the UMC across the street does not mean just because a restaurant may serve beer, does not mean they can just let a customer belly up to a table and just order beer and get soused!

Even the mayor is known to hit the ole bottle once in awhile. tee hee
