I donate a TON of stuff each year to the Union Mission. I have NO PROBLEM whatsoever with the workers going through the stuff and picking what they want first. Most all of the workers there are DONATING their time anyway!!!!!!!!! When you give to charity, what does it matter who gets it? Tell me why that's not fair. Just because somebody works at the Mission doesn't mean that they aren't in need does it? At least they are working and not waiting on a hand out.

My friend does volunteer work and yes they do put thing back for thier friends, the things they but in the Mission to sell well a lot of the clothes are just plain awful. But if you want some nice clothes go next door to The Thrift Store which is part of the Mission and the prices are not that bad,Mrs Robbie that work there is a real sweet lady.

I just wish they would open the damn doors at 9:00 like they are suppose to. Ppl are standing outside in the cold and rain and the women are in their shopping. I don't care what they are getting, but hell at least let us in out of the weather. If your hrs are 9:00 then open at that time, but if they are 9:05,9:10 etc.... then change the hrs so we know what time to be there.

What wrote: what are they giving away!!!!!!!!!!ever time i've been there the store is full of people buying stuff.. I will say this much Several years ago, I tried to donate several things to them I was looked at as if screw you Understand These were all very nice items, clothing, furniture etc.. If they did not meet someone's standards, they could have at least taken them, and disposed of them quietly, if that is what they wanted to do. With an attitude shown to me, I never tried to give anything to them again. When I have things now, I just call friends, and find someone that can use them. At least I know for sure , someone that appreciates them, is getting them now.

I don't take things to the mission anymore. The last time I went, there was an Escalade in the parking lot. I figure if whoever that is can afford an Escalade, then they can dang well afford to go somewhere else for their clothes and stuff. I thought the point of the mission was to help those in need and those that can't afford to go anywhere else, not those that can afford high priced vehicles.

News Flash!!!!!!Alot of us donate to them, and everybody that work for them are not volunteer, there are several that get a pay check... I don't donate my things for the help to go through and pick out what they want,my family does it for the family in need.If this is what they are doing and the ones who get pay for working there well then they can pay also.

Duhhhh Wuhhhhh, but NEWS FLASH, they are making minimum wage, which will not feed a family! Just who do you think are in "NEED"? The employees and volunteers DO PAY. Just like everybody else.

I do not take any items to the Union Misson because of the fact that the workers pull out what they want and let the needy people have what is left. I donate tons of stuff and I could very well sell these things at a yard sale but I would rather a person in need receive it. I now take all items to have to the Salvation Army because I know it will go to the right people.

They are no better then the families who have to pay for the items. I do not care if you say they pay because i seen them not pay for stuff they get.

Everyone needs to donate to them or the red cross. Atleast the stuff will go to the families who needs it.

I agree, the employees of the mission should be prohibited from going through the items donated. Going through and taking the so called "good stuff" while the doors are locked and leaving the rest for the poor people to go through isn't right. Donate to the salvation army.

I don't understand what some of you are saying. If you shop at a thrift store or consignment type store, you have to be needy? Why not just smart? It doesn't bother me that the workers get first pick. I call that a perk of the job. I know I wouldn't want to through bag after bag of junk for low pay without some perk.

Charging $3-5 for a used T-shirt is not saving money. All three of those stores are too high! If it is given as charity then why do they charge the outrageous prices? I mean you can go to Wal-mart or one of the Dollar stores and buy a brand new T-shirt for that price!!!! If you are really needy and can't afford to buy items then maybe they are good places to go, but I don't qualify to get stuff free.....LOL Go to one of the clothes closets that several of the local churches in the area have. You can get all the clothes you need free of charge. I take my stuff to them!

The Escalade probably belonged to someone else donating something, not someone working there.
