I live in kernersville. I take my dog out walking after dark. Last night i am pretty sure i saw a cyote. I never saw one in real life before. It was about the size of my german sheperd. It ran funny though. It ran kind of like a hyena. It ran in someones yard and i didn't see it. When we passed the yard. It came back up and was just looking at us. I asked some people and they all said it sounded like one. I know for sure it was not a regular dog. Needless to say, we didn't go around the block again.

Coyotes may look big like a shepard but are only about 35 to 40 lbs. They are very timid but if food such as another lone dog (depending on the size) or cat is available they will attack but for the most part they are afraid of humans. If you see one again, jump up and down, waving your arms and screaming and that coyote will more than likely head for the hills. Take pepper spray if it will make you feel better. If you mind your business and go on your merry way chances are so will the coyote.

Coyotes are everywhere. If you see one, there are fifty more that you don't see. My son hunts them for a part time job. He has a regular job. One time the coyotes got so bad on several farms that they started attacking the livestock. Farmers were losing money. They hired my son and he went in and cleaned them out, not all of them just thinned them out some. If you have too many around they run low on small food and start attacking livestock.

Sounds like a good plan to me, we do the same thing here where I live, The mouse and rabbits small game have exploded here, there is going to be a coyote come back soon, the pups need the small critters to make it, its a revolving wheel, up and then down, we will see alot more next year for sure.
People have to do what they can to make it, a neighbor had a fox bit there dog last week dont know what the out come has been from that, but the fox is still on the loose they said it was rabbid? who knows what they are doing about that.
And the foxes are down in numbers like they usually are, but we have had alot of rabbies the last few years.

Just for your info a lot of the symptoms for rabies is also symptoms of other diseases like distemper. The only way to be sure is to euthanise the animal and have the brain tested.

I was just sharing what went on last week, The fox is 10miles from me, so no problem here.
I agree with the brain testing, but no one here is going to do the driving to get the brain tested we are not talking a drive around the corner here.... we can be talking about a 2 hour drive and that isnt going to happen for a decission on weather its distemper or rabies...
