I would not want to live beside a prison like the FLDS live in.
Look at the place in the photos taken from the air.
I feel sorry for the neighbors that were there before they built this fortress. Their property values have shrunk by now, I'm sure.
Has nothing to do with being a biggot , which is your word of the day.
It's about property value.
Um, Joy

Did you notice that the FLDS property is worth well over 20 million dollars?

Most of the land around it is probably ranch land based on what I have heard in interviews. Not to be condescending, but have you ever been to West Texas....say Lubbock, Midland, San Angelo, etc.?

Of course they will adhere to the local zoning requirements like everyone else. No one says they are building a huge temple that will impose on others. The implication here is that their mere presence lowers property values. That is bigotry in the extreme! Well thats just too bad! They have a right like anybody else to own property and make a living. These shrill accusations that they are child molesters-each and every one of them. Is nothing but pure BS and an excuse for a mob to gather and persecute people whose ways are "weird".
Thank you for your posts, I agree with you, Duane.

Yes, I know what they say it is worth.
Yes, I have been to western Texas, for whatever that means.

I guess I don't understand your statement about them bringing property values down when they bought a property for $700,000 or so and turned it into a multi-million dollar property. If you look on the taxes, it's more like 7 million for the part with improvements, businesses and such, but they also have land purchases with no improvements on them.

I don't think there is much around them but ranch land. When they showed the footage getting out there, there wasn't much around it. Desolate. Desert. Deprivation. Words that come to mind.

They supposedly killed off any native/indigenous animals that were on the property.

Joy, explain to us please! How much do Mexicans lower property value? How about Asians? What about the Amish and Mennonites who are not to be confused with those FLDS "plyggers"? Which group lowers property values the most? If you don't know, please have a realtor explain it to us.

Considering the foreclosure rate went up either 53% or to 53% in June, I don' t know that it really matters. I don't really care about the property values in Colorado, to be honest.

I'm just glad they cleared the Ramsey family by DNA.

Yeah, well unfortunately the poor mother had to go to her grave knowing she was innocent but being under a cloud of suspicion and not seeing the vindication. That had to be very hard on her.
I heard stress can make cancer worse in a person. Imagine how it probably affected her that way, too.

Sad.But do they know who actually did it, or only that it was not the mom, dad or brother?

It always about religion to you isn't it?
If you have a mansion worth millions on the wrong side of town, where police won't even go for fear they will get killed, how much do you think you could sell your mansion for. Versus on the other side of town?
The neighborhood does make a difference on the value of property. I know several realtors and know this to be a fact. I don't care if you believe it or not. I believe you know it's true and you just want to argue.

Joy, So wherever the FLDS "plyggers" decide to live, is that the "wrong" side of town? I want to know, cause I want to buy some property and I'm worried that those "plyggers" might move next door and lower the value of my property.

There are a couple houses on my street for sale.
No "plyggers" live here. They wouldn't live here long if they did.

Oh and another thing, the broken bones, the pregnant children, the girl whose baby was taken from her and given to another woman, the girl who was married to an older man and was being sexually abused, the boys who were being sexually abused, the children who were being groomed to grow up being pedophiles and the little girls who would be expected to have their first child immediately after their first menses, it was all a pack of pure bullshit!

It didn't look like the police had any trouble going out to the compound. The only problem was gaining access. Maybe they should have choppered them in. Who knows?

I'll have to look at the property values that are close to a very poor black neighborhood. It is an absolute ghetto, but right next to it, there are nice big, fine homes with lots of land around them. I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere on that side of town. A friend of mine lived on that side of town but nowhere near the ghetto.

The market is low right now, but it's not due to that factor so much as it is that there are a lot of houses on the market. Their house was just a few years old, a big two story house where they had a lot of custom work done. They did not get their money back out.:They may have broken even and gotten out what they bought it for, but there's no telling how much all that customizing work they did cost.

And it probably would have sold faster if they had left the original white walls.

It did eventually sell though. It took months and they had to drop the price.

There's no FLDS or even LDS in the neighborhood.

It looks like the FLDS have bought up as much property as they can in Eldorado. I didn't add up the amounts, but there's a lot of entries.

You people are supporting this with hunt hysteria are sick. The crazed mob is just itching to kill some people. If you launch a witch hunt, be prepared for lawsuits and a multimillion dollar tax bill like Schleicher County Texas is suffering.

I live in Westcliffe and this is the first I've heard of it. It makes me sick that they are able to break the law like this. They need to be stopped, rounded up and arrested for breaking the law. Apparently they are buying up the land around here. Isn't there anything that can be done about this?

I guess I better sell my property soon because it will be worth nothing by the time they all move here. Maybe I can sell it to them and move.

They moved here to Westcliffe. Won't be long before my property value will go down.
