What you talk about is a sham between developers and the City Council. Not to worry, if the houses are built there will be few to buy and occupy them.

Is it true that Tommy Robert's in-law family owns the property this deveopment would occupy. If it is true he should disclose this before running for mayor. Also if shops are build in this neighborhood do the GRT go back to the developer to help cover costs?

Bayless does own property along the La Plata Hwy, just north of the Pinon Hills intersection.
The developer has taken our money and left, long before shops are built.

I have to agree with you here sir... My father has his own small construction company, and the jobs he gets lately, a door fix here and there, a window, little things like that. I think that the community should start by hiring people from the area, and if that proves to not be enough people (witch I HIGHLY doubt) then they could think about company's that are based out of town.

In a free market ecomony the lowest bidder wins. If a local company gets outbid then it means that they wanted to charge too much or had to charge too much. We in this town have been far too slow to accept the changes in the ecomomy that people cannot afford what we used too. The oilfield once again has proven itself to be a fickle mistress. When it is good its good for everyone and people have no choice but to pay any amount for services because everyone can afford it. Now we cant and that probably means a large out of city or even out of state company will win the contract. And that would be fair. I'm sure some will say there is collusion with some city government officials or the developers but they would be wrong. If you charge too much for ANY product or service no one will buy or use it. And as far as Mexican workers being used as Well stated that is just an asenine comment to make. probably 95% of our counties trades and oilfield companies use immigrant workers, both legal and not. To assume the quality of work would be subpar is insulting to all people.

We did some work for an out of state company and they did not fully pay us. Those idiots got away with it. We need to use local companies and no out of state companies, they know how to snake their way in make a profit and split.
Local can mean anyone from San Juan County not just those that live in Aztec,Bloomfield or Farmington.
