Donate money? That is what we pay our taxes for so these immigrants can get 'donated healthcare'. I have done all the donating I care to do for this huge immigration problem.
"Are we willing to help them'? I don't see them helping me, my family or my neighbors. So quit trying to push the 'oh poor immigrants' my way as I work 2 jobs, am raising a family and also it seems raising a generation of illegal immigrants.

How about they learn English in their Mexican, et al, schools before and as a requirement to crossing the border?...then we would not have the language problem...and, sadly, Cheryl, North Carolina, is a big target destination for ILLEGALs...the numbers of highway deaths, and gang rapes are up because of this...YOUR STATE has NOT protected you from INVADERS!

Learning english is not the major problem. Sucking our system dry is the problem.If these advocates and sympathizers are so concerned with the Mexicans, they should go to Mexico and help them THERE!!!

Cheryl Dietrich's credibility is shot in her first paragraph. she alleges that the relatively new and rapidly growing Hispanic population (Mexican) are mostly legal residents. After California, North Carolina is the second most popular destination for illegal immigrants. Are you a betting woman Cheryl?

There is a reason why so many think most Mexicans are here illegally. Because they are. Go check out Weaverville and Leicester. They are simply over ran with these "so called" legal adventurers.

And I agree with mtnbred, why should I donate money to help them learn English? I would donate money to send them home way before I would do that.

Ms. Dietrich's commentary offers excellent insight into this isssue. I remember when European immigrants were called names and were subjected to the same anger, bitterness, and ingnorance displayed in the first four responses. This, too, will pass. I have first hand knowledge of the issue and know that most Hispanics are eager to erase the language barrier.

I agree with everything posted. When are these "advocates" going to realize these illgeals are draining us dry? I'm with you Dunnin - spend my tax dollars to send them home.

This is so true! All this ''free' help for illegal immigrants are not helping the economy or our taxes which is used to doctor, feed and educate these folks. It is time for our elected officials to take a stand one way or another and not continue to stand on the side lines waiting to see which way the 'vote' will go.

Oh goodness. I worked in a plant in the area once that was full of illegal aliens. Wanting and eager to learn the language?? My grown up girls booty. They simply want to turn America into Little Mexico. Ship them home!! I, quite frankly, am as sick of them as I am of the bleeding heart liberals who love them. And feel for their "plight".

If they are so willing to learn English why all the lobbying attempts by organizations like La Raza, Maldef, LULAC etc. to the US a bilingual nation? I have heard for years how "willing" Spanish speakers are to learn English, yet the growth of Spanish in our country just continues to escalate. Perhaps Cheryl doesn't realize that in many cities of the US, like Miami and Los Angeles, native-born Americans are losing jobs -- or not getting them in the first place -- because they don't speak Spanish. If our invaders are so "eager" to learn English, how come AMERICANS are the ones who are being pressured to learn their language, not the other way around?

PS -- I'll donate plenty $$$ to teach them English -- AFTER THEY GO BACK TO MEXICO.

The vast majority of the Country is trying to stop this growing immigration mess and Cheryl Dietrich wants to teach them English. Talk about being out of step. Why would the ACT give so much column space to such a ridiculous idea?

Respect?, where do i see respect for our laws and our language and for the services that they demand that they are not entitled to. Where was the respect shown to America during the rallies last year when our flag was disrespected? Btw you showed so much respect using the word redneck.
