School supplies become community property. Fack them and nd kid uses 8 bottles of glue and 30 pencils. The first time my kid needs a pencil I will be in front of that inbred school board.

Ya.....It's a real shame when we make sure that ALL children are able to get an education. Next thing you know, we will be providing school lunch for those in need and assisting in disaster relief for people too stupid to live out of the way of an earthquake/tornado/flood/etc. Next thing you know we will be making sure that seniors have medical care and decent housing. That's it...I'm moving to Syria where life is exciting and new. Who's with me???

Communism is to take from one and give to another. Charity is to allow people to give. You are a twisted piece of communist crap. I did not fight for my country to come home to communism.

You are off topic the point is they give a list of stuff for your kid and then they say you have to give it to the school and your kid that you bought the stuff for may or may not be able to use the supplies they are also asking for money this year a 25.00 donation to the teacher do they not get a budget (yes they do) this school system is public i have been told by students that the supplies that the parents send to the school get resold at the school store this school needs to have a investigation and find out where the money is going

Socialism and Communism are two different things.
If you don't like Socialism then stay in your driveway and don't use the public roads around Dunlap as they are put down by a form of Socialism.

I agree that we should not have to pay for all this extra "stuff" you are talking about. If the Repulicans in our great state keep cutting taxes our school system it will get much worst.

150 is a lot for some people. The bad thing is people need to realize that our school system has more money than any other account in Sequatchie County. People are not dumb, when other accounts need money they will take it from the school account. So why are they putting the burden on the parents, it s because they can. We will donate to the classes, always have, but demanding I find to be very offensive. Is not like we have the best schools around, look at the total graduates in 2012, not a difference from ,2002, 10 years ago. So the school system is worse not better. Big change and dispute a couple of years ago about letting children in Sequatchie county schools that don't live in Sequatchie county. They still do it today. Kids enrolled in school that live outside the county but yet turn in a relatives address. The whole system is corrupt. I wish we had a school board member like Rhonda Thurman from Hamilton county that would stand up for the people and didn't care whose toes she stepped on. Very much change needs to happen on Dunlap before things get better.

This community shows tremendous support for their student athletes. I often see groups selling donuts/baked goods/etc, or just soliciting contributions outside of WalMart. I'm all for it!! What I have NOT seen is a group of parents soliciting for school supplies (art supplies/paper/pencils/etc)for underprivileged children. Just like a good school lunch program, these ore things that our community children NEED in order to get a good sound education. I have no problem with communal school supplies. Of course, Romney would tell me that I have deprived a family of the opportunity to provide for their own children. Go figger....

Why would he stay in his own driveway? He paid for those roads just as everybody did...well, those who actually paid taxes.

Well, you could send your kid(s) to private school. Then, instead of just paying for the items you mentioned...you would get to pay for everything - PLUS pay taxes so other people's kids can get an education.

Hey, come to Chattanooga. When these little snotheads get to college, their parents teach them how to sell drugs to kids that dont want to use them just so they can pay for college tuition. Drugs come from socialist and comminist countries.

There were people collecting supplies, I believe Dunlap Derby did it, and also Zumba.$150, wow let me take you shopping. I have 3 in school, one at each, and I only spent $35. Also, there was a function at the high school where they gave away school supplies, backpacks, and even clothing. We as a community do a lot to help each other.

Griffith chooses to do their supplies that way, and it does annoy me slightly. Only because I may have chooses things in their favorite colors and gotten brands I know color better, and then they are stuck with crap. I also don't like community pencils because the kids put them in their mouth. Luckily this year he got into 3rd grade and with teachers who have him keep and use his own supplies.

Middle and High school also keep and use their own supplies. You can always voice your concerns to the people who can actually do something about it, or conversate with you on their policys.
