Come on down to the lake tonight. For a small city the atmosphere and firework display is pretty good. loosen up people, you sound like a bunch of losers, it's not all that bad.

Here's my story..like many others who graduated from college, I left the area and moved to Buffalo to start my business. I worked with Buffalo's and Erie County's Business Development offices/program. I got two businesses off the ground. I'm in the process of selling one and in the process of starting a new business that will be a manufacturing business that has a specific neiche in the market. I honestly thought about moving back to the area and seeing if this manufacturing business/product could be developed here. Here is what discouraged me and while I'll be setting up shop in Orchard Park.

1) I would pay 25% more in taxes to each taxable entity if I decided to do business in Dunkirk/Chautuaqua County. Whereas in Erie County, I would be classified as an A-1 startup. This means certain taxes or costs would be income based. That is fair, my taxes are based on my income. Additionally, I received reduced rates for power, electricity, waste manegement etc, with a portion of what I pay placed into a fund so other start up businesses can receive the same benefits.

2) To tie into #1 the fees in Dunkirk/Chautauqua County are ridiculous.

3) Although you can buy a house/property for cheap in Dunkirk, call a spade a spade..it's the ghetto.. No where in Dunkirk do you see anyone taking pride of ownership..Downtown is disgusting..the roads are horribe...

4) There is no alternative to the public schools in Dunkirk and I refuse to allow my kids to receive anything less than the best education. Yes there is NCCS...But then you still have to send your kids to the high school.

5) The taxes and fees associated with owning a house in Dunkirk is ridiculous. I refuse to pay (rounded off) a thousand dollars in taxes to the city, a thousand to the county, and thousand to the school district. Plus add on to that water fees...it's ridiculous.

As a successful young entrepreneur..I suggest you just let Dunkirk die. The years of the city being run by the police and fire union and all the pollocks..killed Dunkirk...let it die.

I do agree with a large part of this, maybe even most of it. I think the high school ghets shorted quite a bit. If your child is a good student, he/she will get wgat they need. There are a lot of good teachers in Dunkirk. Looking at the quality of students they have to deal with compared to most suburban schools, even Fredonia, I think they've been tested much more often and have had to be a lot more innovative. The rest of the article is pretty much true.

everyone here treats their animals like shi*t I am sick to death of seeing freaking low life scums hitting their dogs for--- acting like dogs. and we have an AC officer who does nothing, get off your ass and go around Leopard etc...... and see these scums who keep a dog for a status symbol, tied out and alone unless they are smacking it. hope they friggin get blown away I am so tired of seeing this and wish to hell I had the money to get out, and take the animals with me.

Remember when people were poor but took care of their homes or apartments. Remember when people were poor and made do with the food they grew in the summer and got by but had a great meals. Remember when poor people weren't alcholics, drug users and lined up at Social Services. Not many I know have a problem helping anyone out temporarily when tough times hit. But to make Social Services a life style has done a major disservice. Remember when people went to church and gathered together for meals, parties at church. Its seems to be all gone what the hell has happened to our nation and her people. No Republicans don't bother with your bs, this is a moral question, not a political one.

The number 1 negative aspect of Dunkirk is the police...we allknow who the corrupt drug using officers are the perpetuate the growth and use of drugs in our community...Ever hear of the fast and the furious...the was a US Govt condone program to give guns to known criminals in Mexico in order to trace those guns and people to crimes...This is what local and county police departments do with drugs. They have records of all known drug offenders and users, there address, contact information. So what happens is a drug agent will say..lets see what so and so is doing. So the undercover will go to this guy and say heres $500 get me what you can...so guess what he says...$500? What do you want...and the cops got them...the point is...the govenment maintains records on all citizens and can now set up people to commit crimes.

I admire you complicity and blind acceptance of how things are conducted bandy the government. People were killed because the US provided guns to known criminals in Mexico...it's also ironic since our government does everything in its power to keep guns out of the hands of known criminals in the US..this shows how unintelligent you. You most likely are just white trash living at or below the poverty income level and only has a GED..

Actually I live in Castile heights in Fredonia and am in my office in Dunkirk this fine snowy day and oh,I don't have a criminal record and a warped mind. That kind of behavior and attitude is what keeps me in business.

I apologize if I stated I am a lawyer but cant seem to find where I did. You state that I live on S. Roberts Rd and I certainly do not nor have I ever. I have no idea where you came up with the ridiculous assumption that I do? I am in possession of a Criminal Law Degree from Penn State if that helps you any. Any further need for education is only in the form of once per year seminars to stay current in my position. Thank you for your concern.

No further need to converse with you since you are convinced your assumption is correct. Incidentally,FIREMEN is plural. Needed to point that out to you based on your previous post. Enjoy your holidays!

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Gemini

A little give and take goes a long way, so try to be flexible and malleable when dealing with others. It will also pay to ask people what they think rather than to make sweeping assumptions on their behalf, because you could be in for a surprise. A child may have some interesting information for you, or they could make a statement that really sets you thinking.
