To the four brain dead women who obviously have nothing better to do then to upset their own homophobic concerns and keeping their kids from REEEEAAAAADing a book and God forbid draw their own conclusion. Go do a little research and they may find that the portrayal in the story is very much the same as in the wild for the species where the male does take care of the egg while the female goes for food.

I agree with you. What else should you expect from "Calvert County Moms"?! I have spent my whole life here watching the changes. Keeping up with the Jones' and who's who is just NOT cool! Apparently that's what these ladies are trying to do by attracting attention to themselves. Reading thousands...of books to your children is something you do as a good mom, not to brag and make you look good. Don't like the book, leave it alone! Don't read it. Bet you picked on the Teletubbies & Wiggles too huh? Ever heard of child rebelling? Keep pushing the homophobe issue and you will end up with gay children. It's a child's book! Children should be taught about friends, not things like that. If they ask...improvise like you should! Life would suck if we were all like these 4 women! Get a life!

Such filth! Smut! Ban it! Run away! Run away!

I don't know if this book actually qualifies as homosexual in nature, but it is a shame that so much pro-homosexual propaganda is thrust upon society that parents who are not even educationally qualified are forced to homeschool their children just to shelter them from such swill.

These mothers are perfectly free to remove the book.

From their own damn shelves, that is. But they do NOT get to dictate what other people's kids may or may not read.

"I come from a Christian family," Carbit said...

That says it all, just like book-banning Palin, these people are crazy. They expect everybody else to cave in to their chosen religion.

This is a very slippery sloop. When we begin to ban and burn books in this country is when we should be very afraid. Let's not forget Germany.

Little girl :‘Mommy, how can two boy penguins be in love?'

Open minded Mom :'Well Honey, sometimes that's just the way it is and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Good night Honey.'

Little girl : "Oh, OK. Good night mommy."

Gee, that didn't seem too hard, now did it! But, instead she chose to lie to her child about the very nature of the world that she will grow up in.

This book was based on a true story by the way.

I would like to remind those bible thumping, homophobic moms that all LGBT pay the taxes that support libraries, not just the Christian soccer moms!! Freedom of speech is a Constitutional right in this country. I feel sorry for their children. Sheltering children from real life and the real world only does them harm in the long run.

it would be cool if we were tax exempt

sorry, you don't get to participate fully in society, so you get a discount

taxes should be pro-rated to the level of rights you have

Did these "nothing better to do", mothers take the time to read the book? If the two "male" penguins hadn't stepped up to the plate...the egg would have rotted. Would that be "abortion" in the penguin world? I guess only the anti-penguin "mothers" are qualified to decide that issue. Theirs must be a life of superiority and utter righteousness. Wait until one of their little munchkins turns out to be gay. Totally acceptable to be knocked up at 16, but just not gay!

You know, I wondered the same thing myself!

If each of them has at least two or three children then there is a good chance of this,

but there is a much better chance of that!

Two things:

First - censorship is evil and Un-American

Second - Gay Penguins are cute:

how ridiculous! So what if it was about homosexuality? Don't we want to teach children to have no prejudices and think with open minds and open hearts? Doesn't christianity also teach to not judge? A book will not make a child gay if the child is gonna be gay they're gonna be gay get over it! We all know in our hearts who we are and what the hell is so wrong about expressing compassion for one another! I don't care if my daughter reads this book nothing about it seems alarming to me. If you were to have a "christian book section for christian kids" you are then segregating the library amoung kids whom you deem "unchristian" as if they were born with the word evil written on their foreheads. I believe it is also written in our constitution that we own freedom of speech (the book) and the liberty to pursue rights (teaching kids to have compassion and not judge). All I have to say now is wwjd? think about it.

wow. I honestly have no idea why it's such a big deal. And who knows if the penguins are actually gay? Maybe they're just doing this because it's their instinct? Idk. It just doesn't seem to make sense.
