do the math people. Say the additional cost per year is going to be an additional 2,000.00 due to the increase of the price of gas. He will lose a lot more if he trades the SUV in for the hybrid. Additionly the hybird is not going to be discounted. So he loses both on the trade in value and extra cost of a new car payment. Also the city milaege and highway mileage is not going to be much better what maybe 17 city and 23 highway. Keep it!

LOL. Now I laugh at all of those people passing me on the highway with their big SUV gas guzzlers. Me an my little Mazda which gives me 30 mpg highway driving at speeds of 65mph.
Gas guzzlers owners won't be able to sell them.

Anyone who's happy about this has no concept of the freedom America uniquely affords us nor an understanding of how the earth creates oil, which there is and will be enough for everybody. The global warming, which 30 years ago was global cooling and is now climate change is a power and money grab of which we are being propagandized to go along with. Remember, too, news is a product intended to make money not be your friend. So, they, too, need crisis to attract eyeballs to their product so they can grab up the almighty dollar that they otherwise speak out against...hypocrites! BTW, think I'm wrong, then why, for example, doesn't 'the news' speak out about the abysmal performance of the state's education system and the soft discrimination this exacts on the perpetually poorly served black students?

2001 Ford Expedition gets me 25mpg on the highway. 4.6v8 given the choice of iddy biddy 4 banger or my SUV, i'll take the SUV. i also had a 4.6 Mercury Grand Marquis, used to get 35mpg out in california when i lived there. its about how you drive, not what you drive.

I was looking for an H2 Hummer on eBay and they are going for about $20,000. I think they may be good for hauling stuff and taking the boat out to the lake.
This is a great opportunity..thank you soccer moms for buying H2s and depreciating them for me!

I couldn't stop laughing when I saw someone in a smart car...
An SUV can easily turn into a carpool vehicle and be lower than a hybrid/smart car!
The problem is the single-drivers, not the car!

If you look real hard, you can find diesel conversions for H2's diesel is more pricy, but much better MPG. plus you can make your own diesel in the garage for $1.80 a gallon. fact_cat wrote: I was looking for an H2 Hummer on eBay and they are going for about $20,000. One really really odd thing about fuel and america. I'm originally from the UK. HALF the vehicles sold in UK and Europe are diesel. last year i drove a UK version of a Ford 500 / Taurus with a turbo diesel. no matter how i drove it, cruising or foot to the floor at lights, it got 43mpg !! the jeep liberty that is sold in europe is done so with a diesel. it gets around mid 30's to the gallon, in the US similar diesel options only get low 20's ? my next car? ford excursion diesel or hummer diesel.

another thing about diesel cars, they are not like the poor US diesels of the 70's. european ones are very clean burning, not loud clunky things and powerful. you cannot honestly tell the difference between gas and diesel cars, except one, MPG. the latest AUDI supercar is a diesel, it outperforms the gas version. also DON'T trust the EPA fuel figures, they are usually 10-20% off of reality.

I'm with Paul. Diesel cars are awesome. The motors last longer too.

As the price of gas increases the demand for gas decreases. When the price of gas falls, "and it will" below $2.00 a gallon everyone will climb back in their big SUV's and be happy again. Until the next gas spike anyway. How many times in the last 4 years have we gone through this cycle?
