Need some intellectual feedback here, with open minds.
Religion is like a therapeutic drug, when you have too much, you can build up a tolerance. This tolerance can lead to slanted ways of thinking, that are not based in the natural world. When you don't have any, you can go the way of self-destruction. I feel this is a fair and reasonable analogy. That being said... there are a lot of "Drug-Pushers" that abuse the messages in the "Book" to indoctrinate susceptible people. So people need to be aware of this, these are the people that wrap their whole thought processes around the "Book" and end up overrating the "Book's" purpose. This can go for ANY RELIGION. Agree? Disagree? |

Do you sometimes feel like life is letting you down? Are you tired of dealing with everyday problems and need some relief? Want to feel an improvement without doing anything?
Talk to your Pastor about Religion. Religion helps those who wish to think about things in a new way, deflecting the crushing nature of reality. From the makers of 'Dream', and 'Clairvoyance', Religion provides relief from stress and thinking. For a nominal fee, you can purchase as much Religion as you wish, knowing that money going towards Religion is money helping everyone. Side effects may include: Loss of creativity, loss of logic, bigotry, gratuitous censorship, lowered educational standards, xenophobia, increased acceptance of rigid fundamentalist philosophies, loss of individuality, fear, and overall loss of contact with reality. That's why people need to study the bible for themselves. Religion has used the Bible to control people. For example: Religion teaches people that God torments you if you are bad. The Bible does not teach this; in fact, Ezekiel 18:4 says the the soul the is sinning, it itself will die (not be tormented). |

I find my "religion", atheism, extremely satisfying. It doesn't cost a dime either. I get all the stress relief I'll ever need, all the comfort I'll ever need, knowing that when the lights go out for me in the final day, that's it. No heaven, no hell, none of that.
The social networking of being a member of the church may be worth a little here and there, but overall, it isn't worth the price of admission. When I see churches being built that cost tens of millions of dollars, churches building movie theaters, golf courses, skating rinks, you name it... all with dollars that are NOT taxable, which they should be to show accountability AND to pay their fair amount; so called "preachers" driving Mercedes' and BMW's, their children wearing jewelry worth thousands of dollars....I just think that there are many people out on the streets that could benefit from some of this 'uncounted' and unaccountable money. I see so called preachers living better than professionals who earn much more than 100K a year. Something stinks here. It really does. So y'all can rely on a book that was handed down by word or mouth for centuries before the printed work was even invented; and if you can find comfort in an instrument that was, basically, used to control peoples' minds for centuries, to 'scare' them to do the right thing...well, go for it. I do not need it,(religion, of ANY type), will never need it, and I feel some, some, pity for those out there that rely on it way too much. It's a crutch that way too many people use for their own purposes. And don't even start to try and count the millions and millions and millions of people killed in the so-called advancement of religion. It makes me sick. That's it for me on this topic. If you enjoy religion, for for it. Some enjoy hard liquor, some enjoy heroin, I find that not spending any time at all thinking there is a creator that started all of this we see in the night sky, just impossible to ever, to ever, begin in believing in. It's just too much. All I'd need is one ounce, hell, one gram of proof. If you do not believe in Santa Clause, if you do not believe in the Easter Bunny, if you do not believe in the Great Pumpkin, yet you believe in a "god"... then you have issues far more unsolvable than this forum could ever provide. Proud to be an unbeliever. |

You forgot to put the unproven belief of EVOLUTION in your list. No doubt that's because you put your trust in the THEORY of evolution. May not but most people that think like you do, believe in this uproven theory. And they generally get irritated when someone points out that science has yet to prove the unsolvable theory. |
