A former Teen Challenge student exposes this abusive Christian alcohol and drug program. Although seen by many as a worthwhile organization, Teen Challenge has a dark side, one of pathological abuse and an obsession with the almighty dollar.

Some TCs are okay. Maybe the one near you is a good one. Unfortunately, many of them aren't.

I was a student a the Columbus, GA location and then transfered to Ft.Myers, Florida, through Jesus Christ, een Challenge saved my life. I think if you hav somehing bad to say about the program it is probably because it hit on some root issues and you cant handle the truth. JESUS LOVES YOU, let go.....

I was enrolled in tc when i was 16 for 15 months. I agree with everything in this article and its true you really dont know what really goes on until you have experienced it. I have nothing against religeon i believe in god and the heart to help others but there are boundries you dont cross and tc has twisted their motives. They have gotten caught up in the power trips and money. They need stronger people to take over who wont become distacted and who will keep their mind on the right reasons to work in a place like that. I hope the best with much love and respect for the men, women, boys, and girls who are in the centers currently and who have experienced it like i have. Some day it will change

I've worked alongside Teen Challenge in Dublin, Ireland and witnessed the incredible work they do and the lives transformed. I hope the stories are not true about its work elsewhere. However having met former drug-addicts here who have been set free from addiction I know that many of them are doing really valuable work.

I was the first Irish guy to complete teen challenge 19 years ago. Its the heat programme in the world. Many who don't really out the effort into get their lives together will complain like this. It is the best, most caring, loving and successful Christian programme in the world. I'm clean now 19 years. Happily married a father and grandfather

i was inrolled in teen challenge of middle georgia dublin when i was 17 and it was the most damaging experince of my life time. i graduated it because i had no choice due to court mandation. there actions and methods are absolutely astounding to someone who has never been in the demented cult within.personaly i think i will always have scars in my mind about that place and will never truely get over the verble abuse as well as the mental damage they do on a daily basis to make an atempt to create robot christians. On my final note i saw people come in perfectly sain and leave insain because of the fear of going to prison and the psycological damage that can be compared to torture.
i know that god has a special place for those demonic people who run teen challenge and one day he will take care of them for what they have done.
i send my love and care to all the men, woman, girls, and boys who are still traped behind its doors

Wow! Dollars, Money, Wealth! This is a pipe dream ... or should I say devilish propaganda. I was a former drug addict for 11 years. If it would dissolve-it went in my veins. NO-I did not go to TC. Jesus instantly set me free on 11/04/81, is small rural church in South Texas. Religion-absolutely not! The power of God-yes! I've worked closely with TC in Texas and opened a center in Mexico. Anyone who thinks this ministry is about $$ is either currently smoking crack themselves or doesn't have a clue how these ministries survive (emphasis on SURVIVE). If you look at TC success rate compared to other private and government run programs, the differences are staggering. What else is staggering is the overall cost per person (patient-student) that goes through the program. Hands down-no comparison. The directors and staff of these programs could make MUCH more money working secular jobs. The difference-this is their calling! Most have been in the shoes of the addicts and they know exactly what it takes to be able to live free. Let's face it--addicts don't obey the rules, they're not disciplined--they're not truthful or honest. Oh yea, I was an honest drug dealer. I never ripped anyone off (my personal saga). Rule of thumb: Don't judge a book but the negative press that you read online by someone that you don't even know or have never met. Many of the comments that you read by former TC students that didn't make it through the program had and still have issues they are not facing up to. Not to judge-just the truth. I love them anyway. TC makes no bones about it ... they are a CHRIST-CENTERED TREATMENT CENTER. They don't treat the symptom-they treat the sin. Get rid of the sin-you get rid of the symptom. Think what you will, Teen Challenge is a wonderful ministry helping tens of thousands around the world. Thank you David Wilkerson for obeying God.
