Animals seized from a Moss Bluff home of Lynnette Fisher President of La Paw AKA Lake Area Partnerships for Animal Welfare

While animal services had to step in, neighbors say Lynnette Fisher had the animals' best interest at heart. "The times you have been here, what have you noticed about the house?" "The only thing I noticed about the house is when I go up to make a delivery, I can smell a very bad smell and when I knock on the door, I can hear probably fifty dogs in the house at least," said Karl Gatson. UPS delivery man Karl Gatson was close.
Animal Services recovered forty-one dogs and three cats from the Moss Bluff home of Lynnette Fisher. "It just went too far and she couldn't say no," said Diana Morales. Diana Morales with Animal Services says their agency came knocking on Fisher's door Thursday evening after receiving word from neighbors. They believe a majority of the animals were dropped off by people who couldn't take care of them. "People are very proud and they don't say no to people about getting animals dumped on them. They don't reach out for help either. It was one of those situations and she was very glad that we came. She said it was time to do something anyway and sometime's it's hard to let go," said Morales. Fisher's neighbor Larry Crochet says he knew she had a lot of animals but he thinks she had good intentions. "She's a very nice lady, she's a caring person. She took care of her animals but it just got a little bit away from her," said Larry Crochet. Crochet also tells 7 News he has never been in Fisher's house but he did know why she was doing this. "Trying to keep them from (being) euthanized, basically to save their lives," said Crochet.
A last resort, Animal Services says it is necessary so the animal population doesn't get out of control. "There are animals that are going to be euthanized if someone doesn't take them out by the day and she answered some of those calls and took some of these animals in," said Morales. While it is believed Fisher was trying to save the animals lives, rescuers say the conditions inside the home were insanitary. "There were just too many and we took them for her. I would like to hope we're doing her a great favor by being there and trying to help," said Morales. Animal services have sent their report to the Calcasieu District Attorney's Office.
Meanwhile, Crochet says Fisher shouldn't be in trouble. "I hope she's not prosecuted for it. She wasn't doing any thing negligent in her own way, just trying to save their lives," said Crochet. Diana Morales says if someone knows where there are animals being kept in large numbers like that, you should call Animal Services immediately. If you feel like you can give these dogs a good home, Calcasieu Parish Animal Services wants to hear from you.
